lol before Holtby get comfortable here we will need to be scoring 4-5 goals per game. Looks like Holtby will be good for 3 per game based off last night lol
- LordHumungous

Based off last night, Edmonton will need to score 6+ if they want to win any games, Toronto and Montreal need to score 5+ as well. Gee this is fun.

Both teams made moves. I haven't seen the Flames play yet this year but a lot of the moves looked lateral. Neither team has the strong core.

Gio is old, Jonny hockey is up and down, Monahan is up and down.

MTL adding size to a team that doesn't have enough elite talent is like adding Gudbranson and thinking he's going to make the difference.

This is a bit of what Tortorella said abut Dubois.

Tortorella confirms that Dubois wants out
Jon Lane of NHL.com: Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella said forward Pierre-Luc Dubois would like to be traded and he has told the team.

“Yeah, he wants out,” Tortorella told “Rothman and Ice” on 97.1 The Fan in Columbus. “He spoke to the team, as we do here. It’s a little bit different than and were. This is a 22-year-old kid. It doesn’t happen that often, so he has been honest with the group. I wish he was a little bit more honest as far as reasons why. I still haven’t really gotten to that, but I think he needs to speak on that. I won’t.”

Tortorella added that Dubois is on a short leash

” has had a good camp, but it’s a short leash with me as far as this is concerned,” Tortorella said. “He needs to continue to do the things to help this team win and be the best teammate he can be, or I’m not sure where it goes. It’s a situation, and we’ll go to it day by day.”

Dubois signed a two-year, $5 million per season contract at the end of last month. GM Jarmo Kekalainen hasn’t said if he’ll trade Dubois.

I know right!
Talk about statistically relevant sample sizes.

Into season 3 now it's a good series. Way better than I thought it would be.

Yeah, I was reading about this on prohockeyrumors. Dubois I believe has said he wants to play somewhere like you can't walk down the street without being recognized.

Torts has won in the league but I think his shtick is getting a bit old on players. I could see why breadman and Bob wanted to leave when they did but CLB has got to do something to make these kids want to stay, especially their best players

If Podkolzin and Tryamkin sign that’d be ten players in seven years

Tryamkin isn’t good enough to make this team his time is over

Agreed. Good start tonight, and there should be a lot to look forward to.

I live in Ontario, and I can tell you right now that everybody is sleeping on this team imho. But I'm sure you folks in BC are used to that.

I have very little concerns regarding the goaltending, D also seems improved.

Heard Button talking yesterday, and he says the Nucks D is worse. Uhhhh??? Lol.

Loved Tanev, but Nate is a major upgrade. Stecher isn't going to be that missed (guys like that can be replaced fairly easily), and we get to see more of our prospects slot in. It's time we find out what we have.

- Lotto 6-40-9

Button said we are going to miss Stecher on the PP. has Stecher seen time on the PP in his career? Maybe three years ago? What a (frank)ing clown

I don't think there is any harm in looking at him. He is a good stay at home Dman. If you don't like him ship him to Utica and he will quit . At least take a look.

100%. Fans remember when he was a 4 or 5 on this team a few years back. But that was the worst defence the organization has ever assembled. Times have changed. We have kids on the taxi squad that are more deserving of a spot. Not to mention he isn’t signing for $700k and he is an entitled little b!tch

I kind of feel bad guy for guys like Button and Ferraro. They are basically asked to give scouting reports on every player in the league and prospects in world juniors and every other league in the world. There's just no way they know about 1200 different players around the world.

Even me "super scout" will totally admit, I know very little about most East teams players outside of Canada with the exception of a few.

and after the draft and the 60 players I have on my board turns into about 5 and whatever the Canucks draft.
