I think with the cap problems that creates now and into the future, and with Podkolzin coming over at some point, the Canucks won't really trade for a big name during the season.

Unless they can offload someone in the trade, or fingers crossed Loui or Sven don't want to go to Utica...

If I had a chance to steal a guy like Tuch for peanuts I would take the opportunity and worry about consequences later. Some teams are going to be handcuffed and you need to be ready when the opportunity comes.

Alex Tuch would be nice

For this year it's impossible, he makes 4.75 million dollars, Canucks can't take that on. I think I read this morning the Canucks have around 800K in cap space after Hamonic signed.

He had a bad regular season last year, year before he had 20 goals 52 points, and, he had 12 points in 20 playoff games last year. He's a good player but not a 4.75 million dollar guy IMO.

He is a very good 3rd liner that can fill in on top 2 lines. Overpaid by about 1.5 million though.

I guess when Jake becomes a .500 + PPG guy in regular season and playoffs I will give him more respect.

Jake has 3 career playoff points

That was correct this morning before they put Ferland's 3.5 mil on LTIR

Also, did he have a bad regular season last year, or was his 20 goal 52 point season a career year.

This goes back to what I was saying the other day, only fan favourite types of players improve or have a bad season, the ones who are permanently in doghouse, have no hope in hell.
I have been saying for 2 years that Gaudette is useless at centre, can he improve of course he can and i hope he does, I don't where blinders.

Maybe wander over to Capfreindly and take a look . It shows they currently at this moment have 3.5 mil in cap space due to LTIR

I looked, it shows they have zero cap space. You're misinterpreting the LTIR Summary as they have 3.5 million in cap space, to the best of my knowledge they don't.

Move down to the blue boxes just below the summary, it shows 3.5 m of 4.3m equals 800,000k remaining

Jesse Granger
@JesseGranger_
Peter DeBoer essentially says the 13 forward, 5 defenseman lineup is due to salary cap gymnastics, and not really out of preference.

Did they announce the taxi squad yet? Is Loui Eriksson on it?

Good post.

People may not like it, but JV is essentially a top 6 forward by most standards, poopty hockey IQ and all

- NorthNuck

I think that's probably the difference from being a top 6 compliment to being a good 3rd liner is being steady, night in night out.

The very last column is Current Cap Space it says 3 500 000 LTIR

As everyone knows it is never considered cap space but the team can bring in a replacement up to but not exceeding the amount of the players contract for the duration of the injury.

Technically the proper term is no cap room but they can bring in a player up to 3.5 mil for the duration of Ferland's injury.

Scroll down on capfriendly, they have it there.

Also, Loui costs about 52000 everyday he is on the 23 man roster, doubt we have to put up with him for more than 10 games.
Loui at 52000, or Bailey at 6300 or so, I take Bailey all day every day.

Scroll a little more it says usage 800k of 4 .3 . remaining is 3.5

Cap friendly has made a lot of changes and is getting confusing with taxi squads and other things
