Perhaps that needs to change.
Time for Canada to be a little more independent.
Better infrastructure, more internal production
and more and better milirary support equipment: evacs, transport etc. Get a damn aircraft carrier ffs.
Doesnt help with covid at all, i get that. But we need one or two....cause.

- Fakepartofme

What are we gonna carry on an aircraft carrier? Poutine?

If we look at things from a "good" perspective: I did see Bogo moving people out of the front. That's something not a lot of Leaf D do or have done. That was good and nice to see. He was boxing out well. Again, most of our D are not that strong and don't do it well. He looked slow, but that penalty on Suzuki (while absolutely a penalty) is only called 50% of the time. I have patience for him. If Tampa could use him for the full run to the Cup playing 18 minutes / game, we can find a use for him.

Holl & Dermott: I like them both. I didn't like anything about their games yesterday. I am trying to think of what I liked, but I draw a blank . . . I thought they were both very slow to react, looked slow on the ice, made poor decisions, and weren't sure of their role with their partner, got bunched together as a result - which in Holl's case is really odd since he's with Muzzin. Not being a jerk - what did you see that you liked in Holl?

- Monkeypunk

He blocked a shot with his chest in the 3rd while it was a tie game

Well...it would come with toys.
Geez.

And yes poutine Im sure would be made on it. They could go around to all the islands and get the locals fat.

It's a poloticall y correct safe answer when asked the question. Doesn't change the fact.

The fact is that the only peoples whose opinions matter are the players and their opinion is the opposite of yours.

Hey Max, go (frank) yourself. What the (frank) do you know about Canada’s security posture and capacity. Fascinating that you knew about Israel’s vaccine rollout months before it happened. You are such a (frank)ing poser.
- Canada Cup

First: Israel has paid 3x as much as a lot of other countries for the pfizer vaccine - so they got most doses they wanted. (unlike other countries that order the vaccine at approx 15USD/dose).

2nd: Israel has a good public health infrastructure (digital records etc.).

3rd: after MERS threat in the region - Israel already had their plans ready for such an outbreak (at least the vaccine roll out). This is as well related to the fact that Israel is aware of potential future biological warfare, where they would need to be able to give meds/vaccines very quickly to a lot of people.

N.B.: As I had indicated before in April/May/June, apart from some countries in Asia that realised after SARS they needed to be prepared for future outbreaks (e.g. testing, track and trace, isolation protocols, etc.) not one 'developed' country had their protocols in order for such an event. (and very low investments in vaccine platform development for such events).

For you pencil lickers - of course all of that is news... (you were always living in your pretend bubble).

He'll be number 2 in goal scoring on the team for many years.
- Santo_44

Considering we really only have 3 star goal scorers on the team.
its safe to say he will be 2nd or 3rd.

So if people are living in a "pretend bubble", does that mean in reality, they're not living in a bubble at all?

And the fact hes 7th in goal scoring in the league since the start of November 2019 helps.

Admittedly I treat Holl as though he has a lower ceiling than Dermott. For whatever reason (perhaps Dermotts potential as a 2nd rounder compared to Holl already eclipsing his outlook as a career AHLer) I have a higher expectation for Dermott.

That admittedly may not be the proper method of comparing the two.

I felt Holls game was just sound, whereas Dermott appeared to be panicked at times with the puck. If that's an explanation?

Hope he keeps it up.

Yes, yes I know for people like zezel, willie easily keeps him up.

Edit: He was 15th in goal scoring last season.

I realize we live in a world where AA and Max exist, but he takes the cake as worst poster ever when you factor in his longevity and durability in being an arrogant relentless pest.

Tavares' shot yesterday made me think about eric staal, and whether it's a legitimate strategy to just take really hard clappers at the opposing team intentionally?

it was clear that Matthews just missed his check.. It's not like he's known for his physical play.

Knees unfortunately tend to happen when players try to avoid hits last second with a sidestep.

Yeah he definitely did... And for a decade plus straight.

Max and AA may put in the effort but UG is the Gretzky at this game and those two schmucks are Sandins at the end of the day. 🤷‍♂️

UG is/was different... Always appreciated when he would change his position in an argument to suit his newer argument.

I can't remember the details, but there was also a blatant high stick in the first or second period that should have been called - a Canadien ate some lumber in front of our net, and the Leafs exited the zone.

Remember: the refs didn't have any exhibition games either.

Arguing to death a point and then arguing the exact opposite while denying he ever argued against, tends to annoy people.
