Is this the same team that gave up 7 goals in a 7-3 loss against the Belleville team. Not impressed.

Brown's inability to play his way on to the team is a tad concerning.

But, glass half full, means that guys like Norris have passed him this early in their careers is a sign of the team feeling very strongly towards them.

Brown, Brannstrom, Wolanin and probably Formenton are not Smith type of players and if the team stays the course with Smith for the next 3 years they have to be moved before it becomes a problem for the program.

Your concern is well founded. There will be little public policy patience if we see a flare up in infections. If a Canadian team has a Dallas Stars' type infection rate, play will be stopped. Public tolerance for exceptions to lock down or distancing protocols is almost non existent. As we get closer to a vaccine resolution the demand for compliance becomes even more rigid.

It's great to see Wolanin added to the lineup. His progression has been quite good since he was drafted. I believe that he will be a 3-4 defenceman in time who is competent at defending and good at moving the puck up ice. I very much hope that he is one of the three defenders who gets protected for the entry draft for Seattle.

Norris and Batherson are both looking like top 6 forward options starting this year. The organization has done well to take its time with these players. Very much looking forward to seeing them play this year.

As for Brown and Brannstrom, their transfer to the AHL is the best choice.

Few thoughts on Logan Brown:

- More veterans were brought in than a lot of people expected. This probably contributed to a bit of a numbers game. But you also can't just hand players roster spots, just because.

- Unfortunately, only a handful of people got to see the scrimmages, so not much to go on. I do assume L. Brown was not impressive enough. It is concerning that he could not force the Sens to plug him on the roster or taxi squad.

-His ceiling has always been suspect. Does he have the tools to be a top 2 centre? Yes. Can he get there? Sure doesn't look like it. How many top 1 or 2 centers, didn't crack an NHL team at 23? Not many. Not even mentioning, this team is consensus pick to be one of the worst teams this year.

- Trade value will take yet another hit. Logan Brown may turn into yet another 1st round selection held onto by the organization for too long to get anything of value in return in a trade. Quite frustrating to see.

- I do believe he will get an opportunity at some point, if he is not traded. Injuries and cold streaks will happen. However, his chances are running out.

Byfield not on LA roster or taxi squad.

Mea culpa.

I had hoped that Byfield would drop to #3. Kings would take Stutzle and Byfield would come to the Sens on draft day.

Obviously, I have changed my opinion.

So, where does it look like he will play? I think they made an exception to let these kids play in the AHL?

I'm not worried for Brown he'll play somewhere else. The only team he can't make is the 31st place team. It's obvious that the team was selected before training camp and Troy Mann had a major influence in the selection of the Belleville prospects. It's also a fact that he had a real man crush for Norris so his selection was never in doubt. They even had the living arrangements figured out before camp.

Everyone being put on AHL rosters until the Q, CHL and WHL get sorted out.

No idea what teams without an AHL team operating this year are going to do. Where do u send guys?

Does it seem that Sens are one of the few teams to use all 23 spots to start? I like the flexibility.

Anyone else watch the Leafs/Habs game last night? Seemed like everyone was dropping their sticks. Askarovitis.

Finally...everyone saying the can flip Stepan or Galchenyuk or Coburn or Paquette or anyone else at the deadline for more draft picks is overly hopeful. All the other Canadian teams have very little cap room to take on any sort of $. And trades across the border will be hard do due to travel restrictions and quarantining.

But... Go Sens go!

based on who's on the taxi squad, you get the impression that they decided that for the prospects it was either regular lineup or AHL......didn't want them just sitting and not playing on the taxi squad.

Agreed!..Although I trully expect that during this season, L. Brown, Branstrom & Formenton will get at least 20-25 NHL games, in order to evaluate them properly...I still believe that they will crack the team if not this year but for the next season...

I don't know about that... Filip Chlapik (<1yr older than Logan Brown), Jonathan Aspirot (undrafted 21yo, 44GP in AHL), and Joel Daccord (12GP in ECHL, 24GP in AHL) are definitely all still prospects, and they make up half of the Taxi Squad. That said, I can believe that for Logan Brown they're wanting to see him handle the #1C role for a full AHL season (ideally staying healthy), without being so heavily insulated with the likes of Norris, Batherson, Chlapik, Paul, Balcers, etc. That means producing consistently against the other team's best d-men, and matching up well defensively against the other team's best forward lines. However, you really do have to wonder if there won't be a lot of trade speculation.

Colin White healthy scratch.

Josh Norris #1 centre opening night.

Is somebody trying to set up a trade?

Rumours that CLB wants to try and flip him for Suzuki. Montreal would hate to part with him, and in any other situation I'd say its a non starter.

But a young French Canadian number one centre...
