Because he’s a top line guy. Jackets have playoff aspirations. You can’t have this situation where line mates don’t trust a teammate’s commitment. This is where the term “cancer” aptly applies. Sure, in a vacuum, the organization has all the power. In reality, the player has the last word because he can just protest by sabotaging the team until he gets his move. If the Jackets had more talent in the top 6, maybe the organization waits but PLD correctly assessed the situation and knows they don’t have the same leverage as say a Colorado or a Tampa with an abundance of top 6 talent (who does, right)? It’s a Richard move for sure by PLD but that’s where it appears things are at. E5

Niku has been passed on the depth chart by Heinola, Stanley, and Samberg in my opinion. So it’s time for him to find a change of scenery as well. Stastny is UFA and unlikely to be resigned by the Jets.

Laine and Roslovic for Dubois makes perfect sense for the Jets. Then again Columbus would not get a top 6 center iceman they are looking for. Also they would have to find the money to give Laine his 9M that he wants after next season.

A trade call is being set up between the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets to complete trade sending Laine and Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre Luc Dubois. A draft pick to the Jets May also be included.

If CBJ and the Jets both replaced their coaches there would not be 3-4 players on these teams each season requesting either a trade or refusing to discuss extending. Ownership in both cities need to step in and fix this problem before the Jets and Jackets become talentless wastelands like Arizona.

If that's the actual pieces moving,then the trade would already be done because cbj comes out ahead on that deal for sure,and I dont believe they will come out ahead trading him.
