Carol Schram: The Canucks seek redemption in series-ending game vs. the Canadiens Tyler Myers has avoided suspension and Jordie Benn is set to return, but the Vancouver Canucks' lineup on defense continues to churn as the club looks to avenge Thursday's 7-3 loss in their series-ending game against Montreal on Saturday.

Thx Carol

I’d suggest video meetings on game footage for players to give them rest & point out the improvement needed.

What do you think they're doing on their non-practice days off? Going and getting gelato?

What I notice & what irritates me most is our passing is horrible & disrupts flow. Nothing to do with ops strategy just outright bad passing.

Other details are the forecheck. Dump ins are fine if done properly as in Jake can use speed & banging. Carry the puck in is preferred but if say EP or others cannot gain the zone it really hurts possession.

Biggest team D improvement is use more speed on the forecheck & in the neutral zone. Watching other teams pressure us gets results.

I know they do it but some more individual 1 on 1 is needed. JV comes to mind & also kids like Hoagie.

Less time & space is an NHL staple for success. The more a team is chasing or defending the more energy is wasted. It turns into longer shifts & the next line under is the gun. It creates more shots & dangerous chances against.

I bet they are going to Burger King for Big Mac's with bacon. Or is that Mcdonalds?

Olli Juolevi at +1, is the only player on the positive side, Hughes at -6 & Gaudette at -5 are at the other end of the chart.

I'm surprised the Myers hit was legal but the video makes sense.

To bad it was called on the ice, ruined the Canucks chance at a last minute come back...

The lack of on ice practice days is indicative of how brutal the schedule has been for the slumping Canucks.

What seems to be missing now is the swagger and confidence. This has led to hesitant decision making leading to gaffes.

Will a resounding win not a lucky shoot out be a cure all?

Or they probably saved the Canucks from giving up another 2-3 goals.

I don't get when people say Jake's speed. He has been virtually invisible.

#Canucks have not been a top-10 team in minor penalties taken in any of Travis Green's first three years on the job. Hasn't been a hallmark of way his teams have played. But number 1 in #NHL right now with 28 through first 6 games

Playing like a leader and a top 5 pick,
kids been as smooth as ice,
he's been willing to sacrifice,
Some day he'll pay the price,
OJ is Edlers replacement and I'm fine with that.

Many reasons for it. The system for starters & a C who communicates. Jake also doesn’t engage enough & rough it up. A C can tell Jake if he’s on the fly he’ll get the puck or fetch a dump in. Playing to a players strength albeit he’s not great at winning puck battles so use his speed instead.

My line-ups don’t matter tbh. I’d deploy lines to their strength & allow a system to utilize it. Not sure that is the case with TG’s lines & Baumers pairings. Flexibility needed to optimize dynamics.

There are times to bring the puck into the o-zone & times to dump it in when an advantage. Biggest peeve is a poor dump in & let the goalie play it. I've always liked punishing the D or making them panic pass more often. Overload the puck side & opposite side D pinches if they reverse the puck hard.
