Anyone as a fan at the home opener? The game report indicated something like attendance = 80. Media, support staff, scouts. No fans, correct?
Whatever. I was hoping someone noticed how well or how poor Detroit Red Wing defense performed. On paper they don't appear with much experience. Not anyone in attendance to crow about what appears their weakness. Well, also in goal just average talent. |

Greetings fellow Hawk fans...I have watched the replay of the last game many times. Well, I have replayed it 4 times and paid attention when I can. I'm an optimist usually. Hawks seem smart for allowing this goaltending development showcase.
Also, Mitchell was ducking when he was inside the Hawks net and Larkin was shooting on the Red Wings only goal. Shouldnt he be trying to stop a goal? He's ducking after getting burned and falling down? Could be a young guy being tired, however...I'm hoping Mitchell is a champion. He's ducking for cover while laying on the goal line lol. Surely a natural reaction. Chelios would have eaten that puck if he could IMO. Lol, some Cheli love. Peace Hawk fans. 11:30am Central start this morning! |

Hope to see today continued improvement in getting to loose pucks and clogging passing lanes.
Lankinen has been their best goaler so far.
And thank you Theo for your excellent postings. Very consistent two thumbs up material! |

Nice blog Theo.
Unfortunately, Hawks are stuck with Delia. As those who read or scan my posts know, I am not a fan of Delia’s, haven ‘t been since he made his debut. I like my goalies to have some sort of fundamentals and not rely on athletic ability alone.
There are going to be at least 20 goalies (probably more like 30) that will be available for the Kracken to pick, including Allen, Georgiev, Quick, Oettinger, Demko or DiPietro, etc. ) that are way better than the flipper.
Maybe the Hawks will get lucky that a team needs to trade for a goalie (Vegas maybe if MAF does not waive his NTC) that doesn’t have a eligible goalie in the system to make available.
The only reason I see Delia being selected is the minor league home of the Kracken will be in Palm Desert, which is about 75 minutes from his birthplace of Rancho Cucamunga. |

Delia will play himself out of a job in net in Chicago. He is getting this opportunity because he had played well in the AHL for Colliton. Perhaps Delia is NHL capable but if he gets further opportunity after falling out in Chicago, he better have his fundamentals and technique in good order.
Clearly wth Subban being a tremendous reflex goaltender but not solid enough overall, the composed technique goaltender Laakinen should not be a surprise to win the goalie job
I would not expect Delia to get an opportunity to play if he continues to display the aforementioned weak areas. Subban though if he is truly capable then he has to prove it. Was his past AHL experience a growing process or too much success based upon reflexes? I dk But LAAKINEN is like the good stock to invest upon. I don't see the others as a stock which might arise |

I posted something similar a few days ago. I think Stan's plan may be to keep all 3 goalies through the season. Then keep one, expose one to the draft, and, trade the other to a team that has to expose a goalie.
In your Vegas example, the Knights are totally exempt from the draft. They don't have to expose any players and they are not getting a slice of Seattle's entry fee.

We have lost some ground in the Tank standings the past couple days.
Speaking of, what about those Canucks? Were they not supposed to be a threat this year? |

Wallmark watches today - BetweenTheDots
They’re showcasing Janmark! (RF)
If that means guys like Hagel, Suter and Kurashev stay in the lineup...all good. |

That's what you took out of the game? That a rookie d-man didn't see the point of sticking his face in front of a shot late in a game that they were already up 3-0?
Have you ever heard the term "discretion is the better part of valor"?
BTW he was most likely ducking to not smash his head into the crossbar. |

You know you really lack depth when you see Wallmark and Janmark on the power play.
Letting the kids play, i agree I'm glad they weren't scratched for Soda |

Dumb!! 3 assists in his last 2 games, good penalty killer, should have been the other “mark” IMO. |

Montreal is so good this year. With the teams I have seen so far, they are most improved.

Not knowing the lines, JC might be just plugging Sodeberg in at center with Janmark and Shaw, and this way the other 3 lines stay the same.
Might be more that he likes Suter, and Kampf’s game so far, then any disappointment with Walmark. |

Don't disagree, but prefer kids to continue playing, and this might just be the beginning of giving veterans a night off. It looks like they will be playing 7 games every 2 weeks. |

How’s Suter looking so far this season? I haven’t been able to catch a lot of the game action but saw that he has our goal today. Did Stan find another hidden gem? |

Playing fine, just miscast as a #1 center. Ideally a middle 6 winger.

Really having no expectations i really like Hagel Kurashevs games.
I know Shaw can be a meatball, but when he plays within the rules of hockey he is a very solid hockey player. He was great on that PK hopefully he can stay healthy |
