I think Tanev proving to be well worth is contract is impossible for RW to accept. |

I agree 100%. Tanev has been one of the Pens best forwards to start the season. He doesn’t take shifts off and always looks like the fastest skater while he’s on the ice.
Hopefully RW will start giving credit where credit’s due and worry less about his contract and more about his performance. |

I don't like Rodriguez on 1st line. Thought he was particularly shiddy last game vs NYR. Are they just waiting for Kappy to get in "game shape" or something? |

It just makes so much more sense to me to let Tanev be Kap's placeholder on the 1st line than Rod. |

And RW didn’t mention this? How could that be? Don’t tell me he’s buried the hatchet! Say it ain’t so. |

He should be in the top 9 and Rod on the fourth, it's ridiculous. |

what about a top six like:
kap-sid-zucker
jake-geno-rust
Did they really give up a 1st round pick for zucker for him to play bottom 6 minutes? Rutherford is like oprah: "you get a 1st, you get a 1st"
I just dont get the mccann thing. the guy scored his first goal on friday since last january and was not hurt last year. Why $3M per year for 2 years? He is great some games and then some games i am not even sure he dressed.

RW wants to piss and moan about the "overpaid 4th line" which also doubles as the PKers. Fact is Tanev is the guy taking that line from one I'd be concerned about (if it was ERod in place of Tavev) to one I think that can tread water and the top 3 lines can focus on 5v5 play and PP time |

"Despite his lineage and ability to skate like the wind his stunted IQ and utter lack of awareness will render him infuriating and uncoachable"
While this quote likely explains why he will be a career 3rd/4th line player, it is likely a review of his NHL career to date which explains why Sid has made it clear he will not play with the Kappy.
Unfortunately Kapanen is a Michael Grabner clone, he skates fast and will score on the occasional break away, but his pass completion rare has been the worst in the league, measuring as low as 9%. I suspect Malkin will also refuse to play with the turn-over machine.
It is shocking that Rutherford paid such a high-price for a low value asset, especially considering he had already once rid himself of the Kapanen menace. Eventually the time comes when even good GMs fail. |

I had to read that twice, Blueger FINALLY getting some love. I just hope he gets a couple games to show he belongs there and not a couple shifts. |

Did Crosby say he did not want to play with Kapanen?

I like these lines if tanev and rod switched. I didn’t like tanevs contract when it was signed but many many many nights he’s easily the most noticeable player for the pens for reasons the pens desperately need. |

Tanev is a good player but I think a lot of people are overestimating what he’d bring to a top 6 line. He’s an energy guy playing real well on some defensive lines. I do think spot shifting him with Crosby or Malkin in the middle of games that he’s playing particularly well could be a good idea, but having him play out games with Crosby I don’t think will lead to good results.
And since I know someone is going to respond with “bUt RoDrIgUeS”, this isn’t me defending having Rodrigues on the first line. He’s a 13th forward and it’s indefensible to keep him glued to that line. But the way to take Rodrigues off the top line is to stop (frank)ing about and put Kapanen up there, or if you’re really worried about his conditioning/system familiarity, put McCann up there until he’s ready. |

Giddy up its game day. ERod sticks to the 1st line haha unreal. Before the season started I was saying I saw glimpses of things in his game last season that made me want to see him on the 1st line with Sid for a bit. He hasn't shown me enough there since the season started and there's better options. I would say it's a case of the coach not wanting to F with things because they're winning... but he blended every other line haha. Sully gonna Sully. |

At this rate I’d rather see O’conner on Sid’s wing. Rod should be 13th F on this team.
The Zucker trade still baffles me, I’d be fine trading him but you can’t if he’s being demoted to the third.
I’m glad blueger is getting recognition and I’m confused with Kap not up in the top 6...
Sully confuses me |

Don't come on here and tell us about third or forth line players when you guys cut, you read that right CUT, the guy who is now our top line right wing. ERod is one of the team leaders in ice time, he already has a goal, his play just won't allow him to be demoted. And you guys cut him.

By no means do I think Tanev is a legit top 6 player. I think Crosby and guentzel are though and I think they can score enough. I want a dupuis type with those 2. Someone who will be the first in on the forecheck 99.5% of the time that isn’t scared to go get the puck and take the hit to make the play for sid and G. He’s willing and able to grind with Sid down low and is willing to head to the net constantly to create space for the other 2.
Definitely Kap would make the 1st line more potent but would also make that 3rd line more of a checking line without him there. |

I wonder if they are rewarding Blueger. He is playing out of his mind with Kap right now, if Zucker can find his touch. That line could be extremely dangerous which would give us 3 scoring lines, and 1 shutdown/defensive responsible line.
