Carol Schram: The Canucks face the Canadiens again after a Monday night stomping The Vancouver Canucks looked mostly outmatched on home ice against the Montreal Canadiens just over a week ago. The trend continued on Monday night, when the Habs easily defeated the Canucks by a 6-2 score.

Everyone loves watching a train wreck, I just hope they play better defensively. Gotta get Miller away from Pettersson right now, they're a disaster out there together!!

Thanks Carol. Honestly this game scares the crap out of me after what happened last night. Things seem to get out of hand quickly with this group.

Not only did they shoot themselves in the foot they did it over and over and over.

Montreal have been ready at the start of every game and the start of the season. Good for them.

Canucks have a disturbing problem that we have seen for a long time of not being prepared at the start of the game and/or the start of periods. They got to fix it.

Thx Carol.

Maybe the 'let the kids play' experiment is over.

Time for LE and Sven.

There's a joke in here somewhere about them shooting themselves in the foot so often but only managing to outshoot their opponents twice in 12 games this year

Thanks Carol!

This isn't directed at you, even though I'm quoting your post...stand down.

They've been defensively inept for the better part of three years, it isn't about being prepared to start a game properly, it's simply about playing the game properly. Every team is going to have breakdowns, it's inevitable, but playing poor defensively from start to finish is purely unacceptable.

They are second last in goals against thus far, 43 goals allowed, only Ottawa at 44 GA is worse. Last season they were 18th in GA but their offensive guys were scoring and their goaltending was all-star caliber. The year before that they were 20th, it starts with playing better defensively, until they do, their chances are better at the first overall pick than they are at winning a Stanley Cup.

I like Sven in Utica developing Lind . It gives him a decent partner to learn his skill.

We may not be able to match MTL's overall speed but we can for sure match their effort level. Expecting more tonight.

generally after a teeth kicking a team comes out strong. and getting to do it the next night against the same team is kind of a unique feature of this season. Montreal ripped the Flames apart on Thursday and then Calgary came back with a strong win on Sat. i expect the same here... if not a Vancouver win then a much better showing. because that was honestly one of the most ridiculous defensive performances i've ever seen last night.

Since Benning took over, the Canucks have the 5th worst shot differential, 5th worst GA/Gm. If you generously want to eliminate the Willie D era, Canucks are still bottom 10 in both categories - with common neighbours being New Jersey, Arizona, and other rebuilding teams. They have the firepower to win these games these days but the bubble last year showed how lucky they need to get by better teams as their defensive play is generally awful

How are we after the poop show Gillis left us was over?
Benning needs to go simply because he is not the GM to take this team to the next level, but we need someone who isn't going to strip our cupboards and put us back in the position we were in back then(2014) within the next 5 years again.

If you have a run-and-gun style offence with tons of run support, sure, you can outscore your defensive liabilities, Detroit did it with Osgood in net for years.

Personally, despite the Canucks top line firepower potential, imo they're not there in terms of being able to do that if other parts of their game just aren't there.

Sedin

I don't believe Daniel had 500 in a ten year span . I think if you took his best 10 year stretch it is 464 assists .

Hank definitely did it in 10 years.

They are one entity, average of over 500 each within a ten year period.

So, what you're saying is the 1st & 2nd for Miller & Toffoli was a bad idea?

Winning back to back is tough to do, and while the Canucks might not be cup contenders, they also aren’t the Sens. Kids will come through with 5 tonight, if Demko is on I guarantee a win.

MTL seems to be that team we just can't play well against, i see that series going 6-3 in MTL favor. EDM will require McDavid and Draisatl to beat us IMO, I see that series going 6-4 in our favor. WPG we seem to play well against, i see that series going 5-4 in our favor. Calgary I see us going 5-5 vs them, Ottawa I see us going 8-1 against, and Toronto will either be 5-4 or 6-3 in our favor.

Not including any loser points I see us getting around 64 points this year.

This is also being saved, I'll remind you when we disagree in 5 years
