"Everybody has to realize that he had an injury pre-training camp that pretty well parked him from doing a lot of physical activities for multiple weeks," Krueger said on WGR 550. "He started training camp a week delayed. The game pace that we've had and the forced almost eight-day break (for NHL COVID-19 protocol) that everyone had a few weeks ago, he has worked as hard as anybody else to get himself up to speed. But all the circumstances are preventing him from being at 100 percent physical condition and shape because we just have no practices and we have no training time between the games."

Three things:

1) I will never get a paycheck from an NHL team (probably). My guess, neither will you.
2) Matt Irwin is getting caved in nightly. Anyone who says otherwise isn't watching. Past success means nothing. Okposo has past success. Should he still be playing even though he's clearly shot.
3) Ryan Jones is a 24 year old former 4th rounder from the Penguins, and is playing pretty well for the Amerks. It's not my fault if you don't know, won't bother to look up who he is.

I don't need to look him up. The very fact that I don't know who he is means he's no better than Irwin. My point really revolved around the fact that there are a lot of experienced people who watch and scout NHL and AHL games. If he was/is any good, he'd be given a shot. The real problem is that we have 3 NHL d men currently out.

Strange how kahun does nothing, but then gets time playing with childhood friend leon. That helps the bottom line.

Irwin adds some veteran nhl experience. That's the thought?

- Boss34

My thoughts are the only thing he may be “teaching” the kids are to be professional maybe? He’s certainly not teaching them how to play hockey.

They would have to cut 3/4 of there team to fit him under the cap. Maybe the whole team.

This post started and finished very truthfully.

The words in between were also correct.

👍

Bet your getting an nhl check tho right? Irwin is a plug. Fill in when needed. Play more, your team is (frank)ed. Agree or disagree?

Agreed on the last part. Don’t think anyone does. Irwin isn’t the answer, and he never was. Also Jones has played 5 games. Might be something, probably won’t. Never hurts to take a look, especially when Irwin does nothing for the team but get caved nightly. Again, reserve the right to change my mind if Irwin proves me wrong and I’ll eat crow. Somehow doubt it tho.

Good point

Jeff Skinner sitting is the exact reason Linus Ullmark was superhuman last game.

Irwin isn't very good. I think we can all agree. He wasn't signed to play every night which he now has to do. He wasn't signed as a player who could potentially blossom into something more, he's too old. He's exactly the player they thought he would be. Fill in when necessary, tough and can kill penalties. It sucks that he'll probably be a regular for a while but oh well, that's the situation we're in.

Quinn Hughes obviously

leading the league being on the ice for 29 goals against 5 on 5

The closest is 22

I'll take the budding superstar Dahlin

In the short term the decision has the team playing some good hockey while being short staffed. How this plays out no one can be sure. Just maybe Skinner gets back in the lineup, scores some goals and works hard enough to please Ralph. In that case we all can say it was a good decision to go at it this way. On the other hand the team plays bad and go on a fatal slide then only one guy will pay the price and it will be bye bye Ralph.
I still say he’s got balls to do this cause most coaches let players run all over them only to get sh!t on when things go bad.

I know probably the top 11-12 D men in the system without having to look anything up. I don't know this guy. He's not good. At minimum this idea is a reach but most likely it's just dumb.

Jeff Skinner's agent, Don Meehan, had a lengthy phone conversation with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams on Wednesday.

Meehan expressed his and Skinner's concerns. Skinner will be a healthy scratch for a third consecutive game tonight against New Jersey.

Disagree as in I know Irwin is bad. Some guys are late bloomers. Think we could not be talking about Irwin and Pilut could be playing if management didn’t jerk him around.
