Or, you know, you could play Skinner on Eichel's line and watch him score at a 40 goal pace again - AND earn that contract in the process as a bonus.

Why can't they see this ?? Is it me ? It's him, right ? (said in Martin Short/ Nathan Thurm character voice).

Wrong wrong wrong

After 11 years in the league, he needs to watch from the press box so he can learn how to play hockey.

This scratch is going to teach him everything he needs to know about hockey

Can't wait to watch us lose 3-1 tonight. That'll teach the team about what it takes to win

Botts is the AGM there, hopefully he helps instead of giving us the finger.
- Buff36

Why would Botts help us, the team that fired him.
Last year 89 was all over getting rid of Okposo and wanted to use last seasons 1st as an inducement.

Then Toronto traded Marleau with 1 season left, and the and had to include a 1st to do so.
Btw he had 16G and 21A that season...his 1 year cap hit remaining was $6.25m

Now, it will be less than a 1st to get rid of A 28 yo, with 6 years left at $9m per that chews up 11% of the Cap and has produced 14G's since he hit 40 2 seasons ago playing with a Top 5 C ...for....Mitts?
If you were Francis, would you take that, keep in mind he likely could get Mitts for free in that Expansion Draft.

Don't forget that Skinner went ice cold over the last several weeks of that season. In short he has really only been good for a 2 month span for this team. Don't get me wrong - it is unconscionable that he didn't spend more time with Jack last year. I just don't buy into the premise that putting him with Jack will turn him back on. To be honest I didn't mind him being on the line that he was at the start of the season as they were playing well together.

Lazar, Reider and Sheahan are playing well in that role...for a total of ~$2m.
Absolutely need more from a $9m player

habs have no cap space and their roster offers nothing as the good players they'll want to keep and the poor players don't amount to much either substantively or financially...

however, staal for phillip danult + 2020 mtl 2nd and one of their three 3rd rounders would do it for me

My point is that he was playing well outside of the top 6. I don't know who you take out of the top 6 for him to play there. Either way - he didn't look any different when playing up there.

If they won't move Olofsson out to give him a shot, then move Cozens to center and play Skinner with him.

All of this is of course pointless because they won't do either. He'll get his one game peepee slap and then go back to Lazar and Sheahan

Even 2-3 of those games and I’m not sure it’s enough to get Terry’s attention to rid us of Ralph... Ralph will just keep putting them in the press box.... he’s gonna go full Bronx tail. You’re not gonna play defense, put em in the press box... you’re not gonna dump and chance.... no pass back to the point. Put em in the press box.

jeff skinner is top-9 or better in every on-ice metric amongst sabres forwards while okposo is no higher than 14th in any category save PDO where he ranks 9th...with both of the having an almost identical o-zone start %

Agree, it's gonna be difficult to move him. Someone posted something awhile back that after next year his actual money starts going down.
Edit: Just looked, actually doesn’t go down until the last 2yrs.

skinner, unfortunately, needs his center (and maybe even his winger) to carry much of the load in order for him to score...cozens might be ideal as he's still young and probably wouldn't have any issue playing that role...plus he's a 200' player who has strong defensive acumen...

didn't ralph say something about maximizing player potential?...or was it me imagining things?

i don't get where okposo had such a great game against the devils...two occasions stuck out from me:

1. he was trying his best to back check but was pretty slow and eakin gave him a shove with his stick to get him into the play...okposo ended breaking it up...

2. had the puck at the devils blue line with nothing between him and the goalie...a devils player caught him and could've circled okposo by the time he hit the slot
