Minus the GM problem, it sounds like your problems are more or less the same as ours...

Big mess In Nashville, Hynes ketchup spilling all over the Ice, Time for Poile to walk away from the Hynes hire disaster and move on to a new coach.

Nice blog, the General is quite right. So welcome to the party, Nashville is as bad as Columbus is.

At least the Preds have an excuse for their bad play with all the injuries. We are going to be a lottery team because we are playing horrible hockey for no good reason. The Preds are playing bad hockey because they are all beat up.

As far as the replacing the GM argument goes, the replacement doesn't necessarily have to be splash hire or even anyone more qualified than Poile... Just somebody competent with a different view on how to manage and structure a team. Just like a coach whose stayed in one spot so long that his players start to tune him out, the same type of thing can happen with GM's. Poile has always been hit or miss with his moves, but ever since the year they won the Presidents trophy, it's pretty much all been miss, with moves ranging for meh, to disappointing, to WTF. Despite coaching changes, and bringing in new players, the problems with this team have remained the same for the past several years regardless. That's a team construction issue, and that's strictly on Poiles shoulders. This is not a well built team right now, and he clearly has no faith in the kids he's drafted over the years.

Poile deserves all the credit in the world for what he's accomplished up until this point, but there comes a time when you just have to accept he's lost his way. There's only so many mistakes you can make before you're forced to answer for them.

Bring up the youth...and play them!! Ride this truncated season out and see what happens. Might finish last, might scratch and claw to the fourth spot, who knows. But what valuable experience the youth would get headed into 21-22.

Poile has consistently shown a major reluctance to do this over the past few seasons. We were supposed to see it this years, and just as I predicted, he hired two rent-a-players last minute and those spots for the young guys were gone. Maybe he's afraid of playing the guys too much and exposing them in the expansion draft. That's the only good reason I can come up with for not letting them play ahead of the spare parts Poile picked up during the off season.

Well, at least you have all those Stanley Cup wins to make the down times a little more tolerable.
