Well they got the win but they sure looked ugly for a good portion of that game.

Make way for Ehlers and PLD on top unit. Vesalainen should be on 2nd unit as well!!!! Copp and Perreault....seriously? They are solid players but probably our two worst shooters

Haha all of which have played 1C over the past year for their teams........ I guess as long as Statsny is holding down the 2C role this is ok. I was surprised, but PLD was a beast. Just like that he went from a pointless guy with some questions marks, to a 1ppg power forward.

I don't disagree with Wheelers pp turnovers. He has made some random pass attempts that surprise me these days. That being said, My favourite PP units are:

Connor Scheiffs PLD
Forbert Pionk

Copp Statsny Ehlers
Jomo Poolman

I really like the stats/ehlers chemistry line, as well as the pionk/forbert pairings. They seem to gel very well, and if Wheeler isn't a QB on D, I don't have him on the PP at all. Tho he somehow keeps racking up the points....

I really hope they send Vesalainen and Gufstafsson to the Moose, no reason for them to sit on the taxi squad and it's obviously terrible for their development to not be playing, claim a couple cheap players from the waiver wire if you need to fill out the taxi squad.

Agreed. Your top prospects need to play high reps. No point having them watching games, or playing 11 minutes a night. Tho I do have my doubts with both of those prospects. They need so make some massive improvements regarding their skating.

Vessy and Gus' all-round play, including skating, has really improved this season. To me, they are "ready", just waiting for opportunity to knock.

If not this season, next. But injuries will happen this year, they are good to go!

Exactly Benny. You would think the team was DFL in the NHL the way the posters on here talk so negative.

That stat last night where Wheeler is top in the NHL in FIRST assists over the past 5-10 years or whatever that timeframe was...is extremely impressive. I mean who really cares that much about second assists. Most of them are relatively meaningless. It means that Wheeler the best passer in the league. Everyone has their flaws and he was playing injured in the past. He looks so much better the last few games though.

The only Jets I have never been impressed with are Perreault who spends half the game on his ass and Beaulieu who I think should be outranked by Stanley or Heinola or even Samberg. The fourth line is on a rotation scheme which will be important on the heavy upcoming schedule. You'll see lots of Harkins , Vesalainen , Gustaffson , Lewis , and Thompson in and out of the lineup.

Well the sad thing about this is that for some reason during the Maurice era, only one line is going at a time. Maybe you could explain to me why that is?

Does PLD need Scheifele and Wheeler? If he does than yikes. PLD is a center and as such should be playing with wingers to elevate their games. This team has a couple of more gears it can get to during the season and it has an additional two more it can get to in the playoffs.

One thing that Maurice has shown is that he definitely cannot get that out of this team.

Stastny has not really generated much offence since he had that hot streak earlier this year. He should actually be our third line center with Lowry on the fourth.

you go Rexy, keep saying it for enough years and eventually you will be right. There is a process that works going on in Winnipeg, unfortunately doesn't fit your "I have the facts to back me up" narrative.

What I like about seeing PLD on the wing (and in hindsight he should have been there for his first two games also) is:
1) he gets to play the Jets system with two players who wont be thrown off by playing with someone who isn't in sync with it yet. It happened frequently in yesterday's game where PLD wasn't where Wheeler/Scheifele expected him to be and wasn't ready for a pass or two. The unit improved as the game progressed.
2) he shakes some rust (has only played about 3 games since June) while having less defensive responsibility
3) That group will play together at key stretches and this helps move chemistry along
4) It is a load of talent on the top 6, creates a look that will be different than when the jets roll out 3 lines more regularly.
5) gets more talent more ice time

Our D as it stands now is not good enough, this group is not going to get better so why not try and see if the young guys can?? Thompson, Lewis, Perreault are not part of this teams future and are also not getting better!!! Harkins, Vesalainen, Gustafson all are, everyday!! Play them.

These are not unrealistic or unreasonable requests but they could go a long way to seeing just how good we could be.

Agree Rexypoo. According to their SOS they have had the easiest schedule in the NHL and yet they have the 2nd worst XGF%. Seems pretty impossible unless you play a bad system.
