Going to ND, the handful of years of Toews circle jerk was definitely annoying, but tough to care about that when five years later Sid got two more Cups, two Conn Smythes, a well deserved reputation as a premier two way player, and Toews became an awful contract. I don’t even mock my Hawks friends since it was just so obvious I was right. No point.

I enjoyed watching Toews play in his younger days. He was a damn good player. I always found the comparisons to Sid pretty comical, but I sure as hell would have taken him on the Pens.

At least he seems like a decent person. I can't stand Kane from that team. I laughed pretty hard when Franzen took his mouthguard and threw it across the ice. Right in front of the ref IIRC but no penalty because the ref was like, "Yeah, he deserves it."

I don't remember that but I'll youtube it haha. But regardless of who you like or don't like Kane is he better player by far. Hell Panarin was better than Toews.

Even if 100% of the players bought in 100% of the time, I still don't think the risk/reward works out. How many 6v5 goals are scored vs. EN goals? How many tying goals are scored at 5v5 with 6 minutes or less? The way the refs call the game based on the score is even more reason not to take what I deem unnecessary risks.

Looking at the numbers I definitely agree that the scoring rates on empty nets look so astronomically high compared to everything else that I don’t comprehend how the math could possibly work out in favor of pulling goalies so far ahead.

It’s gotta be a statistical odds thing where the slight bump of going 6v5 with 12 mins outweighs the decrease in odds to win from going down 1 to down 2.

It’s good for the sport that Ovi got a Cup. I wasn’t upset it happened but I sure as (frank) wasn’t rooting for the Caps, especially when MAF was on the other side.
