Here you go: https://www.google.com/am...e-pulling-in-the-nhl/amp/

Empty net: 19.16 goals/60
6v5: 6.39 goals/60
Standard 5v4 PP: 6.54 goals/60
ES: 2.25 goals/60

Looking at the numbers I definitely agree that the scoring rates on empty nets look so astronomically high compared to everything else that I don’t comprehend how the math could possibly work out in favor of pulling goalies so far ahead.

- Victoro311

Thanks for all of that. It is interesting that EN is 3x the rate of 6v5 and 6v5 is 3x the rate of ES. Beyond that, it is too hard for me to contemplate the odds vs risk/reward other than, yeah, it does seem far too risky for extended periods of time. The other thing is, what do you do on a faceoff in your zone? Bring the goalie back in and then send him off again? Seems you'd be doing that quite a lot over the course of 6-12 or 30 minutes.

Yea just because he had the "C" haha. That 2010 team was insanely stacked. Hossa is a better player than Toews, I said what I said.
- 668710

I absolutely love Hossa as a player. One of my favorites of all-time and pretty underrated, IMO.

Edit: And yeah, Talbot is absolutely one of my favorites. Anyone who shushes the home crowd after just getting beat up is tops in my book haha.

If this is true then McCann will most likely be traded.

I don't think McCann is getting traded. I don't feel the article inferred any trades. It does suggest moves are going to be made. The only guys that are going to lose their jobs are Jankowski and Sceviour. O'Connor can be sent to WBS without passing waivers.

Remember it wasn't Lafferty that got benched last game, it was Kapanen. Sullivan seems to like Lafferty, I think he is safe. When McCann returns that gives us eleven serviceable forwards. Of course injuries are going to happen. We need to strengthen our line up but it could just be signing free agents.

I don't remember that but I'll youtube it haha. But regardless of who you like or don't like Kane is he better player by far. Hell Panarin was better than Toews.
- 668710

For sure Kane is the more talented player, I don't think that needs to discount what a great player Toews has been throughout his career. Not that far off of a ppg player and always played great 2 way hockey.

Panarin was running around beating up teenage girls in Russia when Toews was winning cups, so I don't really think there is a comparison between the two.

Yea I remember, I was just enjoying good hockey. I will say this and give Boys this... I hate watching hall of fame players jump around at the end of their career trying to win and never getting it(Iginla, possibly Thornton and Marleau) so I was definitely ok with Ovi getting a cup. He deserves it and is an amazing talent. Hate when playing against him though haha.
- 668710

I guess this happens with all great players, but I went from hating Ovi to wanting to see him win one Cup. He was getting dragged so hard for not winning one I actually felt sorry for him because his playoff numbers were good, but most of the other Caps stars choked every playoffs yet he got the blame.

Just unfortunate that meant Tom Wilson had to win one too.

I really like Ovi, always did, just hated his team, still do haha. We've been blessed as hockey fans to have him and Sid come in the league the same year and witness all the things they have done....so far

My hate for the Caps started with Hunter, Hatcher, Tinordi, Iafrate and Bondra

Hossa I never hated, but I still took a lot of pleasure out of seeing the look of disbelief on his face when the Pens won in 2009.

Wish Datsyuk was healthy for that 2009 cup series.

Yeah I didn't get anything about McCann there either. If anything that line could use him. I still think there's a rile for him as a scoring depth guy who jumps up in the top 6 with injury. Should be killing penalties too.

I agree with that the coach likes Lafferty more than the board. He's a classic 4th line energy player and sounds like Sully likes that. Rodriques I'd like to see in a reduced roll, though I'm scared he's going to end up back on the top line next time Sully gets mad at Kapanen.

I guess I'd go Rodriques-McCann-Lafferty if everyone is healthy. I'd also keep looking for another player. Roster is getting jammed so I wonder what the plan is with Bellerieve on the taxi squad. He should be playing games in the AHL if they aren't planning to call him up.

Yeah same. I never really faulted him going to Detroit, it just made the win a little more satisfying.

Definitely. Especially since he made it crystal clear he was going to Detroit because he felt they had a better chance to win a cup. Whoops....guess not.
