Yeah I didn't get anything about McCann there either. If anything that line could use him. I still think there's a rile for him as a scoring depth guy who jumps up in the top 6 with injury. Should be killing penalties too.
I agree with that the coach likes Lafferty more than the board. He's a classic 4th line energy player and sounds like Sully likes that. Rodriques I'd like to see in a reduced roll, though I'm scared he's going to end up back on the top line next time Sully gets mad at Kapanen.
I guess I'd go Rodriques-McCann-Lafferty if everyone is healthy. I'd also keep looking for another player. Roster is getting jammed so I wonder what the plan is with Bellerieve on the taxi squad. He should be playing games in the AHL if they aren't planning to call him up. - Tojo.
If we can’t get a winger to push down Zucker to make a legit high end scoring third line, we’re gonna need a guy with some semblance of finishing ability on that 4th line like McCann. I think he’s part of the solution there. |

If no trades, I wouldnt even mind this being tried...but know it wont be
McCann-Sid-Kap
Guentz-Geno-Rust
Zucker-Blue-Tanev
ERod-Jank-ZAR
Jank needs to go, weakest link. With a bit more competent 4C I would actually like the 4th line haha. |

Definitely. Especially since he made it crystal clear he was going to Detroit because he felt they had a better chance to win a cup. Whoops....guess not. - madmike71
I mean Detroit was definitely the more complete team so he wasn’t wrong. |

Well I don’t think that would be a recipe for sustained success. |

I'm afraid you are right on this possibility. The only thing I see that may derail this thought is Tanev. Tanev has shown he can play with anybody, he is the guy I would use up and down the line up.
Start McCann and Rodrigues on the fourth line when they return and let them earn their way up the line up. I expect McCann to get a promotion fairly quickly. He was playing well before he was injured. I also think he was playing thru an injury.

Probably not, no. Im just thinking in terms of what can be done with roster without trade...and I, along with almost everyone else, want Zuck and Geno separated. |

Tanev is a bum lol. It appears he can play with anybody because he’s consistently hitting the other team while they breakout and head into the offensive zone with whatever line he’s on. |

Ovi was quite a cheap shot artist his first several years. Eff him. - madmike71
That was definitely part of it. Specifically how he would run Malkin before they patched things up. |

Man, we paid so much for Zucker to push him down. And he's scored a lot at ES. Kapanen makes more sense though I get where you're coming from wanting to separate him and Malkin. |

I feel like we paid similar cost to acquire for Kap. It’s not like Galchenyuk was worth anything in that trade. |

Imo most ideal lineup with current pieces:
Zucker - Sid - Kap
Jake - Geno - Rust
ZAR - Blueger - Sceviour
McCann - ERod - Tanev |

Much better prospect, Addison is pretty highly regarded and I think had the value of a 1st himself. Agree on Galchenyuk. |

We have been saddling Sid with Sheary, Simon, and Rodrigues.
McCann's corsi is fourth, his goal percentage is second. All with Blueger, Jankowski, and Tanev. If we're going with analytics he can slot in with Sid. Right side is Rust then everyone else. |

So you’re basing the decision off of individual CF% from an 11 game sample? Seems legit. |

I mean if you don’t want to push Zucker down, you can flip him and G and target a lesser winger either for Malkin’s right or for the other bottom 6 line, but that doesn’t seem to be in consideration. Either way, Zucker and Malkin cannot be together anymore. We’ve seen enough of that look |

Is pushing Zucker down in serious consideration? Seems like Kapanen would be on a shorter leash. But otherwise yes I'd flip Guentzel and Zucker, I think everyone wants to do that at this point. Keep Rust with Sid and have some balance.
I don't have a firm plan for the deadline because I'm waiting to see how the team develops. Should be a sellers market and we lack assets so might need to go the "bandage the 4th line" route. Would be nice to find a good LD for RW hockey trade. |

So in a what have you done lately for me world let’s put a bottom 6 guy that’s on IR on the top line. Seems legit. |

Realistically, no i don’t think that’s in consideration either. I think Sullivan will continue to push the disfunctional Zucker-Malkin relationship for the rest of the season. |
