He looks like a total bust. Kakko doesn't look like he'll fit the bill either, but I can see him becoming a solid middle-six winger, but man, Laf just looks awful. - Rinosaur
94 PDO...
I remember when Jack Hughes was a bust last year. |

Doesn’t sound like it. Laf hasn’t been impressive because PDO and the fact that the team is absolutely horrible. They went on a run against poop teams before Covid shut down last season and everyone forgot that this is a team in a rebuild. |

I thought you guys were joking but seriously, calling a 19-year-old with a total of 16 games under his belt a bust? Wow. Speaking of lazy and enigmatic, he has one less goal than Malkin in the same number of games. He and the Rags will be terrorizing us soon enough. |

Neither Haula, nor Granlund are having a great season, but neither is anyone else in NSH not named Forsberg. My guess is they'll try and nab a 2nd for both. I don't know that I'd personally give that for either one.
I've said this before, but JR jumped the gun so hard thinking there was going to be a mad dash and there wasn't. - Rinosaur
I really have no complaints about Kapanen though... even if JR overpaid, I'd take Kapanen over Haula or Granlund (not Forsberg).
I just don't see us as great trade partners with Nashville. Which is too bad because they have some players I'd love to bring here.
LD for forward is about the only move have other than trading Poulin or Legare. I'd definitely explore the hell out of trading Dumo.

lol 3 of his goals against at 5v5 have come in 23 minutes of sharing the ice with JJ.
Edit: not that it would make much of a difference, he's still 3-7 at 5v5, but just funny. |

MacKinnon was a slow starter compared to what he is since about 2017. Mack's first few seasons were good just not above and beyond what he is now. |

The thing with MacKinnon was that he was billed as the next face of the NHL so when he started off looking like a pretty normal-ish 1st overall pick I think he didn’t quite meet the hype. Then of course he did end up hitting that kind of best in the NHL potential the last few years here. Unfortunately for him McDavid had already arrived by then to claim the Next One mantel. |

Didn't say he is. Just said he looks like one.
Even though Hughes and Kakko had mediocre rookie years, they still showed a pulse at times. I've watched a couple of non-Penguin Ranger games and Laf really wasn't noticeable, and as I said, my buddy who's a huge Rangers fan said he just looks lost out there.
I'm not saying he's a lock to be a bust, but his start looks worse to me than Hughes or Kakko for recent comparisons. |

He was a slow starter by "Generational Talent" expectations, but he still put up solid numbers.

Yeah, he may not have hit Sid or Ovie numbers in his first year, but he also put up very nice numbers for his rookie year.
