If the Islanders forwards were more consistent we would be talking 3 out of 4 or even 4 of 4. Instead it is a 50/50 split. If does not address this issue soon, it will comeback to bite them. They are placing weigh to much weight on the defense and goaltending.

That's the way the team was built. Lou and Barry are defense first guys.

Going to be very interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. Isles can still be a very tough matchup for a lot of teams. Question is will it be enough against the elite teams?

If our secondary scoring kicks in and holds up then yes. If Wahlstrom starts putting some in also we’re going to be a tough team to beat. If not we’ll be battling for a playoff spot till the end.

I think under Barry this team will always be a tough playoff out. The question is can the current roster go all the way?

The depth scoring has to start kicking in. JGP is in a 3 way tie for second place in points. Other players need to step up.

If they’re firing on all cylinders I think they can and that goes for just about every team...

Nelson, Beau, and Wahlstrom have to start putting some in.

Nelson has been disappointing so far 5g 3a 8p in 17 games. Bailey need to produce more too. Really that whole second line.

Shocked to see Nelson even has that many points he’s dysfunctional out there. Beauvillier cancels out good rushes or fore checks happened multiple times yesterday. I get it Beau has been out but he’s been like that before and after his injury. Both of them have also been terrible in the neutral which has been a killer for us.

Hard to tell. They were firing pretty good until Tampa. I do not think they can with the current roster but I hope I'm wrong.

Tampa was a buzz saw last year nobody was stopping them. Who knows who will be the buzz saw this year it could be us if we stay healthy and the team performs to their capabilities. We don’t have the depth to absorb pretty much any injuries

Like the positive attitude Cpt. You are risking your membership in the Wolfpack though.

Nelson is still on my list not scoring on that breakaway in OT in Game 6.

A lot of things have to break right for us but like I said that goes the same for any team. We also lack depth so it’ll be a little tougher for us as compared to a Tampa.

The lack of depth is a big issue. I was hoping we could have more help from Bridge at this point. Seems lots of the help would be from defense in Bridge.

You've been saying that for as long as I've been on this site. I'll say one thing, you are consistent.

Barry and Lou prefer vets.

I want to see Bolduc in the lineup. He is tearing it up in Bridgeport and deserves an opportunity with the Islanders. Pittsburgh had 3 goals on 18 shots they took advantage of there limited opportunities and won the game. They have the weapons on that team to wait for the islanders to make a mistake.

I get it and a lot of coaches find them easier to coach. Lots of vets also have already reached their ceiling as well and will not improve. I guess there is good and bad with both. Enough babbling from me. Time for a mini break.

I think pretty much all of us wanted to land Trotz. That meant low scoring games with "safe" players. That's what we have and I still think it was the best decision. We can't have it both ways.

For the record I tend to agree with your tendency to play younger players.

Beauvillier has 0 goals in a top six role - I realize he’s been injured and played 8 games (not even gonna bring up MDC). Our d-men have a total of 2 goals in 17 games or 102 total (17 games X 6 d-men) man games played. Hate to mention Toews but this is where we miss him. We need to get the scoring depth back like we had in the playoffs ASAP.

Word has it Jeff Skinner will be a healthy scratch tonight, which is fine by me. He tends to be a pain in the ass against us (though no goals in 2021). I was about to suggest some type of salary exchange and trade with Bellows for him until I saw he makes 9mm pretty much until the rapture.

Islanders don't have the weapons to play a game that waits for mistakes from other teams. Other than Barzal Lee Ebs Pageau Nelson and cizikas they have nobody over 1 goal including the defense. 14 players 7 goals that is the problem
