Had absolutely no business winning that game but we’ll absolutely take it. |

A little more experience and he may be there eventually - keaner17
I think he’s ready. But I’m sitting on my couch at home 😆😆. He’s one of the only guys who consistently shoots! |

Varly clearly first star. He’s been aces so far this season. |

Last couple minutes were more stressful than I’d have liked, but yes. Good win. |

Indeed. I honestly was worried about this game tonight since you knew Buffalo was chomping at the bit to go at it tonight after we had the luxury of playing their junior varsity team for two games. I expected Sorokin but Varly stole this one

Wouldn’t mind making a play for Olofsson if we’re in a good spot come the trade deadline for our pp. Probably wouldn’t work because he has an extra yr at 3 million but there’s a player that could potentially really help our pp. Problem is he doesn’t do crap else. |

It's only a matter of time with Wahlstrom. He is going to be a great player. He deserves to be moved up to the 2nd line and be on the top pp unit. |

Our second pp unit is better than the first which is stagnant - Upstate_isles
It looked like the first unit had finally figured it out for a few games. They were just getting the puck to the net and crashing for rebounds. All the sudden we are passing the puck all over the place again.. it's maddening. the low % pass through 3 PK players sticks that IF it gets through the player is still not shooting..... Most PP goals are either deflected, tipped, goalie never sees it or rebounds after the shot. Get bodies in front and Throw it at the net. Not that friggin hard..
it would help if we actually got some PP too.

We did score on the pp so I guess that should be all that matters but I agree. The first pp unit was predictable, slow, and unrealistic with their passing. They seem to have reverted to their old ways. You have to get some wins when you probably don’t deserve them to succeed in this league whether it’s your goaltender that bails you out or otherwise.
I guess you can chalk that up to last nights game but there was a lot I saw last night that I wasn’t happy about some of which is what you’re describing. The first three mins of the game they were fantastic then they slowed down a step and were hesitant with the puck for the rest of the game. If that were a better team we were playing we most likely would’ve got shelled. If we play like that against the bruins and pens and expect to come out with any points the team is fooling themselves. Hopefully this was just a one game thing and they get back on track. Super happy we came out with two points but they have to fix some stuff which they’re 100% aware of. |

There's just not enough player movement on that pp. We pass, pass, pass but players away from the puck stay static, which makes it easy for the other teams pk units to track and break up passes. At this point I'd like our pp to go with a hybrid overload/1-3-1.
Let Pulock stay high but overlaod these teams playing a tight box low with four triangles. Keep the halfboards moving and available for one timers in close. You could trot Lee, Pageau (or Ebs), Barzal, Wallstrom and Pulock out there.
This way Wahlstrom is available for closer blasts while Pulock has less pressure and more time to aim.
