He looked to me like he was having trouble seeing the puck. It annoyed me to no end that the Flyers weren't shooting everything at Rask to test out this theory.

I couldn’t see the friggin puck myself with all the glares haha. I’m sure it was even harder with the sun in your eyes or reflecting off the ice

A very good team took advantage of a depleted line-up. That's what they were supposed to do.

We are just starting to realize how big of a hole Nisky left. Overall team D was solid last season and I would have to believe we continued into this year. We are giving up too many shots almost every game. I'm not as concerned with being out-shot every game as much as the number of chances we are giving up.

Hart will be fine. Scoring will return as we get healthy. Boston has our number this year.

I'm done with Gus. I've seen enough. He cannot score enough to make up for his poor D.

As I said, this was not "just a game". This was a special outdoor game in Lake Tahoe to showcase the league. This year is different, and the game itself is different. That is why I feel the Flyers should not have played.

In terms of the standings and competition, it is just one game. I don't feel that you're reasoning makes sense.

Was the old Ghost back last night? The one who looks scared to get hit?

Just unfortunate all these great Hextall prospects are hurt or just not good enough right now.

And then later when it got dark there was light on three sides casting these weird shadows. There were some faceoffs where I couldnt make out jersey numbers because they were in shadow.

Yes, both goalies were playing under the same conditions, but in order to test that theory the Flyers would have needed to actually shoot the puck to test it. That was my biggest annoyance, shoot the damn puck.

Imho, the main blunder the NHL made with these games was playing them during the day. The sun and shadows were ridiculous. The games should've been 5pm local time starts. The problems they had were completely foreseeable and avoidable.
- Scoob

But that would have spoiled the beautiful backdrop, since it can't be seen at night!

Yea ghost is not good, sick of people trying to make him something he’s not. He’s the best of the pile of trash we have after our top 3 D

Why is the coaching staff not getting ridiculed for dressing 2 defenseman at forward? Somehow Freidman looked better than the Morin experiment, please let that end.

Because has been a jack adams nominated coach and he is great. Cant comprehend how Kase was benched. Though the phantoms are banged up and they are down to the bottom roster.

where is Carsen Twar (sp)?

The data is in, and it's conclusive. Carter Hart should not be anywhere near the ice when the Flyers play Boston.

I don't like how Provorov played that 1st 2-on-1, he effectively screened Hart on the McAvoy goal, and he coughed up the puck badly on the hat trick clincher. If your top-pair guy isn't on his game, there's really not much your team can do in the face of a far superior opponent. Niskanen wouldn't have made much of a difference last night.

But overall, the d-corps isn't playing badly. Ghost and Myers have stepped up for the most part. Prov and Sanheim have been mostly OK. The 3rd-pair has been a weak spot, but nothing that would cause the team to continually be outshot 2:1.

Their team game is just still too inconsistent. The forwards carry just as much blame for that as the D.

I'm not ready to panic over Hart's play, and I know he's not solely responsible for every goal, but he has really had more than his share of huge stinkers in his young career.

There’s no need to panic at all, what has he played 10 games this year? Just 4 months ago in the playoffs he was standing on his head. Things will correct themselves with consistent playing and hopefully less Covid complications

To your second paragraph about Hart, it looks as if Bill already addressed that. %919 save percentage against everyone outside of the Bruins. I thought he’s played well and kept his team in games when they haven’t been generating much offense.
- Sublime55

Unfortunately, the Boston games count. I love Bill, he’s great, but you don’t get to say, “well he’s great when he’s not playing Boston”. Also, the numbers against the other teams are mediocre, but they are just so horrendously bad against Boston that his other numbers look better.

He hasn’t been good this year, especially when he’s been needed most. Hopefully he bounces back. Also, what’s with Flyers goalies just whiffing with their glove hand this year, my god.

My guess is that NBC has something to d with the start times, not that it excuses the piss poor planning on the NHL's part. I wonder why they didn't try this at Lake Placid? I will say that I am now thinking about going to State Line Nevada in the future, it looked beautiful.

I dont think people are putting enough credence to the fact he had no warmup in the environment to get used to the lighting site lines etc etc.

That stuff matters.

The amount of self flagellation and rending of garments over his game is astounding, even for this room.

Is it just different for the Flyers or is every team playing under the risk of Covid? There was no legit reason for the Flyers to not play in the game in my opinion.
- MJL

You’re being naive if you don’t think the Flyers were rushed back because of the logistical nightmare of them not playing in this game.

They gave the Devils as much time as they needed out of an abundance of caution.

Pretty pathetic job by the NHL.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this. Yeah. Morin should not be in at forward. And Friedman didn’t do horrible on the forecheck. Maybe his path to the Nhl is switching to wing. Not sure how Morin logged more minutes than him last night.

Wasn’t overly surprised he got the start but in a game like that I would’ve started elliot. Just why out the pressure in the kid.
