The data is in, and it's conclusive. Carter Hart should not be anywhere near the ice when the Flyers play Boston.
- Letterkenney
Wasn’t overly surprised he got the start but in a game like that I would’ve started elliot. Just why out the pressure in the kid. |

I can't get too wound up over last night when you have a "who's who" out there against the top team in the division.
Hart has to be better. He's looked pretty pedestrian to me regardless of stats. The fact they don't play again until Wednesday I'd be fine with Hart starting. Although I do understand the argument to go with Moose. |

Did anyone see the Panarin news - arichardson22
Nothing on tsn or general web search. What is up except he is carrying the Rangers ?
EDIT.. ok it finally came up.. he was being accused of beating a girl in 2011 in Riga Latvia by a Putin loving coach and Panarin is anti Putin.. |

I don't like how Provorov played that 1st 2-on-1, he effectively screened Hart on the McAvoy goal, and he coughed up the puck badly on the hat trick clincher. If your top-pair guy isn't on his game, there's really not much your team can do in the face of a far superior opponent. Niskanen wouldn't have made much of a difference last night.
But overall, the d-corps isn't playing badly. Ghost and Myers have stepped up for the most part. Prov and Sanheim have been mostly OK. The 3rd-pair has been a weak spot, but nothing that would cause the team to continually be outshot 2:1.
Their team game is just still too inconsistent. The forwards carry just as much blame for that as the D. - Tomahawk
Honestly I think Sanheim has been the Flyers best defenseman this year, which again is not a good sign for Provorov.

You’re being naive if you don’t think the Flyers were rushed back because of the logistical nightmare of them not playing in this game.
They gave the Devils as much time as they needed out of an abundance of caution.
Pretty pathetic job by the NHL. - Flyers1218

Weren't the Rangers on tap to go if the Flyers couldn't?
Given roster conditions wouldn't one expect that a Boston-NYR game would be a "better" game?
So it's probably more likely that the NHL wanted to see the Flyers embarrassed on national TV in an idyllic environment.

Yes. It seems to be setting the stage for a Cinderella story final battle in the East on the road to an improbable cup victory.

Not trying to hate on Hart, but all young goalies struggle and, in my opinion, he needs to win the starting position back from Elliot at this point. |

I’ll get on this gravy train. They can win all the reg season games.....we can sweep in the playoffs. |

I understand earning it, but IMO that judgment should not be made off this game and last. They are coming off a Covid pause with no practice or anything for 8 days while missing key players from the lineup. It’s not about excuses but the unusual circumstances are facts which can’t be ignored.

Not basing it off this game alone. I think Elliot has been better this season (I know, not a huge sample size) and should get more of the games, 1A style. I also think that AV let Hart out to dry a bit, he looked off from the start.
Also, make no mistake - I think Hart is the better goaltender. |

So if your the GM do you go for it and try to add missing pieces?
Do you sell off your free gents or your bottom pair dman to get future assets if the demand is there?
Would love to know where the GM thinks this team stands in terms of getting to the finals.
They are not good enough as is imo. |

This is really a bad idea. I would make it a point to play Carter Hart in *every* big game the Flyers have. If hart can't handle it, he is not the goalie we thought he was!

It has been a segmented small sample size for certain. And I agree with your last line which is why I hope they give Hart more time. It sounds like they might get three practices in this week. That will be a tremendous help!

First, no one is going to give you anything for your bottom pair dman! Second, are you saying you want to trade off more players to get future assets so we can continue to be 3-4 years away? If that is all Fletcher can do, we might as well have kept Hextall! You are right however, this team is not good enough! |

Well if this team isn't good enough, then why wouldn't you trade away the free agents to be? That is why you sell off those players.
Or do you think they should make moves to make themselves good enough.
Dont underestimate the value Braun has imo he can easily be moved. |

I was thinking about this the other day with the rumors on Ekholm. I’m not sure about his fit or injury status. Yet, I don’t think it’s just about where Fletcher sees the team this season but also next season and looking forward. Whenever you can land that missing piece on defense, he has just got to do it. Cost might be a bear in draft picks but the hole there is real and whenever it can be filled, that’s the right time. |
