- Buzzo

What playoff rental do you have in mind? Give some names.

I think this isnt the year to make those moves watching this team play. Summer of 2021 is when the GM needs to step up. He needs to turn this team into a legit cup contender. If that means trading picks, prospects, or fan favorites so be it. No more Richarding around.

I didn’t do it. But agree. As soon as the expansion draft is done. Yeah. Not saying all but send a prospect or two or a pick or two to get an upgrade. Yes. And what is needed may change drastically with the expansion draft. Depending on who is selected. So it’s wait and see for now.

But would be all about a rhd for provie.

It won’t change drastically to me. The same needs will still be the same needs more than likely. Leave jake unprotected is the route I go

Yes, load up the boat to add Ekholm. He's the key to the Flyers season.
- MJL

I know he didn’t but would like ekblad.

He looked to me like he was having trouble seeing the puck. It annoyed me to no end that the Flyers weren't shooting everything at Rask to test out this theory.
- MBFlyerfan

There was ZERO thought towards possible conditions for this.

It was shocking and amateurish. Anything outside of controlled environments needs to be rare and far-between...unless it's a HISTORICALLY COLD/CLOUDY AREA.

That is what I do as well. I doubt they take him, but taking that chance allows us to protect someone else.

So none of the 6 players on the Covid list came off today.

So that would mean none of them will play Wednesday.

How long have these guys been on this list now? Does it have to run 14 days?

Yep as imo his contract is an issue. He can still produce though I just want to move on from him. He has run his course here.

With a positive test (which seems to be the case for all six still on the list), yes. Will also need a couple practices after being away from the rink all this time.

Do you think Det would do Laughton and Ghost for Anthony Mantha? Kid would add more size, grit to our lineup.

This is interesting. If I’m Detroit I say no though.

So maybe Thursday practice for Voracek since AV said he was asymptomatic. Is there a certain number of negative tests required also?

a) because the Wings are years away from being a contender
b) better to move Mantha now before his contract’s up and he’s due for a large payday
c) change of scenery for all players involved

A) then why do they want the players you suggest ? Especially Laughton who is a free agent to be
B) he won’t get a large pay day
C) why does mantha need a change of scenery ?

Lol, alright...fair enough! Don’t break my balls over this. Just trying to provide a diversion after yesterday’s doom and gloom.

I think Detroit should look into options but a deal that has you giving up Mantha and landing Laughton and Ghost isn’t a good one. It’s not a good one for us either because we need defense, plus Mantha can’t stay healthy.

I think Detroit should move Mantha but if they’re years away, in a rebuild. Why would you trade for Laughton and Ghost?

Brad Marchand didn't become "elite" until he was around 28 years old.

Your problem is that you don't know how to recognize what that move is. You fall in love with players like Ekholm.

- MJL

OK, love is a little strong. I think Ekholm fills a big need the Flyers have, which is to fill out their top 4 D with Provorov, Sanheim and Myers. I don't even know if Ekholm is truly available, I mean after all its an Ek rumor. But if its true, defenseman like Ekholm: big, strong, experienced and good, don't come around that often so I believe you have to jump at the chance to get one when they do. If you think there is a better option I am all ears. I just don't want to sit idle another year while other teams improve and hoist the cup. I know there is an expansion draft coming, and I know a player like Ekholm will cost a lot, but I am willing to gamble a bit to move this thing forward.

So lets talk about this for a moment. David Pastrnak was drafted 23rd overall, the same draft position as Giroux, Laughton and Tyson Foerster. By 20 years old Pastrnak was a 30+ goal scorer, which is what I define as "elite" in todays game. Braydon Point was drafted in the 3rd round and by my definition became elite at 21 years old. Marchand was drafted in the 3rd round and scored 28 goals by 23 years old, and by 26 years old was elite. This is what I mean when I say "you just now it when you see it". Certain players just show you something special. BTW, coming into this season I was thinking TK was going to be that type of player with two 24 goal seasons already, but to be honest I am really disappointed with him this year so far. I still think he has a chance however and if he does I will give Hextall credit for trading up and getting him.

My point here is with forwards, I think you can see pretty early in their pro careers what they will become, not 100%, but most of the time. Thus I think you need to evaluate potential the best you can and if a deal comes along that will improve your team you have to take a chance. You can't sit back and wait until you know for sure one way or the other, because by then its too late.

No love is not a little strong. Ekholm is not what you think he is. You don't realize that adding Ekholm does not elevate the Flyers considerably as a team. You love to tell others that they fall in love with player while doing the same yourself. Look in the mirror.

There are more players that didn't develop into that high level player in the league until their 4 or 5th year in the league. Not every player jumps out right away. You don't get it.
