There's a part of me that tries to remind myself that Barabanov is just 6 minutes - but he's not deserving. I'd rather see Galchenyuk draw in. You have two injuries in the top 6 on the left side. I don't like Galchenyuk, but if ever there was an opportunity to give this guy an underserved shot with talent around him, this is it.

Barabanov is a UFA at the end of this year.

I just don't see a reason for trying to get the guy minutes this year - I'd rather see our young guys get the ice time.

Galchenyuk never left the country after the Ottawa trade to Carolina - so he was clear when we got him. He's been practicing with the team.

Its because they promised him a good opportunity, and if they dont give it to him, they will have problems signing players from the KHL in the future.

I get that - but if I'm being fair about it, Petan is one of those drawing in in the bottom 6 who has played fairly well when given an opportunity. He's inconsistent though, so I can see a reason to try someone else.

He was a giveway machine the last game he played. I just would like to see Galchenyuk play with some talented players on the Leafs. He's better then Petan even as bad as he has been.
