Also, is there a term for someone who is really into fried poultry? Equivalent to "audiophile," which is someone who's into hi-fi stereo equipment.
EDIT: Would meateater guy know? |

Couldn't you say that about whoever the best prospect is, regardless of location, in later rounds? Undrafted free agents, knock your socks off, but you don't want to miss on Evans or Primeau in the 7th just because they aren't French - Takemedrunkimhome
They have trouble spotting that Tkatchuk is better in than KK with their 3rd overall pick, at that point it's just drawing names out of a hat. You could also say that if they applied this rule they would have Yanni Gourde, Jonathan Marchessault, Mathieu Josheph, Barré-Boulet in their lineup

So, two things: Thing the first, I'm not going to argue about the lack of quality in their selection process but one would assume their goal is to do a good job so for the purpose of this point it doesn't matter who is scouting as long as their goal is to draft the best prospects. Thing the second, yes if you only draft french guys in later rounds, you likely will hit some times but would you hit more often than you would by drafting the players you think are the best prospects? There is just no logic in limiting your options in a highly competitive environment simply because they were born within a certain proximity to the city a team plays sports in. |

Obviously Timmins at minimum appears to have a boner for the USHL and NTDP but I wouldn't care if every single member of the Canadiens was Russian or American without a single Canadian born player if they won the Cup |

yeah, the fact they have 4 years to sign americans (versus 2 for canadians) plays a big role in this no doubt.
still, if the Nordiques were still a thing, I'd bet they would miraculously find a way to do a lot more.

I think they need to be more fully aware of what's going on in their own backyard, and target quebecers, yes, but language or location still shouldn't be the sole factor when making picks |

I wish
How many teams in the league have their top 5 scorer filled with guys they didn't draft? Only 2 in top 12. |

Yeah.... we've had some rough years at the draft. Hopefully the last 3-4 years will turn out different, things are looking up.
But KK will be in that top 5 in scoring once given more than third line minutes. Could be this year, will probably be next year.
I'd try putting both KK and Suzuki on the first wave of powerplay. Suzuki keeps losing the faceoff and it's not helping the pp succeed while KK is doing pretty damn good in these situations.
Suzuki setting up KK for his LASER SHOT would be sweet.

kk is doing better because he's not on the 1st PP unit. you have to remember, Suzuki then faces off with the other team best defensive center (their Danault). so yeah, not easy for him.
