A lot of teams screw up here. We got 2 star players in a row with EP and Hughes, and OJ is turning into a solid top 4 guys at 5. but there are as many failures in the top 10 as success. finishing 2-3-5 last in the league does not guarantee 3 core players that will be as good as we have gotten. - Retinalz
ummm Boeser was a calder nominee, finished 2nd, and was an all star and all star MVP if i recall... doesn't he count as a star? |

If he's retired, bring him in as a consultant to hire the gm/coach.
In any event, it would be nice to have someone experienced holding FA's hand through the process. |

That was my thought too. Let him decide if he wants to be consultant (if he wants to stay mostly retired) or president. |

An advisor to the chairman of the board.
Hitchcock would be good in a senior role with Canucks, I never even thought about him.
Edit, he is currently an advisor with Oilers |

Looking at the Oilers drafting, since 2013 they’ve added five defencemen through their own drafting to their team, Darnell Nurse, Kaleb Jones, William Lagesson, Ethan Bear & Evan Bouchard, they also have Klefbom but he was drafted in 2011, and, they have Broberg on the way.
During that time they also added McDavid, Draisaitl, Yamamoto & Puljujarvi to their team via the draft. Maybe their drafting was better than I thought? |

Most general managers want their own coach so hiring a new coach and then firing the GM would be counterproductive from a financial standpoint in my opinion. I think you make wholesale changes, get a president, general manager and a new coach but make sure the top guy has his own picks in place. - Pacificgem
Not disagreeing and you are right for the most part. I could just see an interim coaching change if things keep spiralling down. If they want wholesale changes the offseason is the place for that. Top to bottom. |

Defense? How about ken Hitchcock? He can be interim coach and gm. Two birds. - RealityChecker
Funny...thought about Hitch as well. I ran into him at the betting lounge in Kelowna a few years back betting horse races. Should have asked if he'd like to coach in Van in a few years lol |

Pretty good for a team that has had 4 first overall picks a third a fourth a seventh and an eighth since 2010.

Nice deflection but I said from 2013, which is eight drafts ago. They’ve had one first overall in that time.
Still, adding that many defencemen is admirable in my opinion. |

It's been decent but it always gets over-shadowed by the fact they picked high for so long and squandered a few big picks (Yakupov/Hall etc) |

Their first 1st overall pick was twelve drafts ago this spring, I’m talking current. People still hung up on them drafting first overall twelve drafts ago need to move on |
