Anthony Travalgia: Is Montreal next for Cole Caufield? Cole Caufield and the Wisconsin Badgers' season came to end on Friday. Did Caufield's college career come to an end, too?

Despite it being the wrong move, I expect Bergevin is vigorously attempting to dump a fairly significant contract so he can sign Caufield and hasten his arrival in the NHL.

Most NCAA players, even Hobey Baker winners, drafted beyond the top 5 require at least one season of professional development. Beyond players drafted in the top-5 picks. most college players have difficulty adjusting to the NHL schedule. which has more than twice the number of NCAA games. Additionally, they are often overwhelmed trying to adapt to the size and mobility of NHL players. It is generally advisable for young college players to spend some time playing professional hockey before making the jump to the NHL.

Despite being aware of these concerns, Bergevin will undoubtedly sacrifice Caufield's development and potential in a foolish effort to win a playoff round. Hopefully this will not be as catastrophic as the results of rushing Galchenuk or Kotkianemi.

in 2012 Rangers the Rangers brought Kreider in when his college tourney was done and he came in and scored 5 goals in the playoffs and helped the Rangers get to the ECF.

I think you want Caufield on the Habs, the playoffs are guaranteed, why not add another piece of firepower and get him some NHL experience now, no brainer.
