Yep, I hesitated to list Brink because he doesn’t have a contract spot either. I think the time has come to make some tough decisions because there is simply not room for everyone.

It's clear that they waived Gostisbehere not because of displeasure in his play but because they had to sit Hart, Lindblom and Patrick. So they picked a player they knew would clear.
- MJL

No doubt. Teams always wave top 4 dman before other options. Get the f out of here with they picked a player who clear nonsense. Plenty others who would clear; nah waive the top 4 dman

I’m not confident on that. I know that some come off the books after this season and not everyone will be qualified or re-signed. However, I need to see the list of prospects again for when the sign or lose them decision happens. My other concern is waiver snatching.

What the hell was in the water around these parts today? Woof.

Besides a matt read blast from the past reference of course. Always wanted to poach that guy.

Not sure why. It's literally done every year.

Allison could probably step in right now. York maybe a partial AHL season away. The rest need a bit more time.
- Tomahawk

It seems like both could be a fit for AV’s system too. Allison definitely has a shooting strength that the current roster lacks.

I said my opinion, backed by representative stats, and analyst polls, ranks him as an average quality 1c. Average quality 1Cs do not lead/take one to a cup. .

Before you jump on the last statement as you have been doing, please note a nuance. That statement is NOT saying average quality 1cs have never been part of a championship club. The emphasis is on lead, not the position

- PT21

Yo xShoot4WarAmpsx,

I checked my wording in earlier posts, and I used the term 1c on a contending/chamionship club not "leads/take." I hope though, that it was clear from my implication. A 1c on a contending club is someone commensurate with the position and the team's position: typically one of the most pivotal players for the team's success. Same with goalie, top D and so on.

Not all players who end up in such positions however fulfill the spirit of this definition. After Letang went down, Pens played top pairing by committee in their last cup run. Dumoulin/Hainsey/Maata/Schultz whoever else there was could all lay claim to the position of #1D by definition, but none would do so in spirit. I would not call any of them a typical #1D on a championship club.

In summary, Couts is a terrific player, a beast on many days, and an average 1c, and not the kind who fits the profile of a typical 1c on a contending club.

Hope this clears up the pedanticism.

How long before reasonable expectations of Brink, Foerster, York and Wisdom?

Ha ha. Throw in Provorov and they would still likely decline.

Couturier is a 30 goal 70 point players who plays defensively at a Selke level. He puts up those numbers while often taking on the opposition's best line. That is not an average 1C. That is a very good 1C.

I would sat wtf, except for the guy pulling the strings for the Isles. I dont however understand how this fills the gap from Lee.

Also, who is now left to mentor the young Devils? PK😁😁?

One thing we need to keep in mind about this season is they are holding back on making a move to sure up the D because of the expansion draft. If there wasn't an expansion draft next year I bet Fletcher would have pulled a move already and replaced Niskanen before the year started.

I don't think that is true at all. Fletcher tried to replace Niskanen. Couldn't find a deal.

Seattle needs to put a team on the ice. The idea that they're going to take on every team's bad contracts for sweeteners, is just not reality. You're right that there are going to be numerous players available due to the cap situation with teams. So why are they going to want to take on 3 more years of Voracek's contract? The Flyers are going to have to expose some young talent to the ED.
- MJL

Not every team but they can do certain contracts. I have no idea. They are going to need some vets. Why not Jake. Flyers can retain some $$ in the deal. They might take Jake at 6.25 mil per plus a first rounder to boot.

It gives them a PP scorer in Palmieri and center depth in Zajac. You can never have too much center depth.

The question is why Jake? They're going to have plenty of good players to pick from.

Andy Greene was jobbing the Flyers in the playoffs last year. It doesn't fill the gap for Lee, but they will have some moments for Isles.

Both UFA's. Devils get a first round pick for two rentals.

They have to hit a cap floor right? Remember how Vegas gave out overinflated contracts to do that.

Jake will help them get there and he’s still s top 6 forward I guess.
