They have to hit a cap floor right? Remember how Vegas gave out overinflated contracts to do that.
- Just5

Which overinflated contracts did they give out? My point is simply this. With the way the cap is, many teams are likely going to leave some players unprotected that they normally wouldn't. Everyone is so confident that Seattle will take an older player from the Flyers with a high cap hit and term left when there will be younger players available. There is no guarantee. It's possible but not a guarantee.

They will take older player from many teams but that All depends which players with that high cap can make the best impact for their team.

Yep, I hesitated to list Brink because he doesn’t have a contract spot either. I think the time has come to make some tough decisions because there is simply not room for everyone.
- NC Flyers Fan

Didn’t realize you meant right now. Maybe if there is a two for one deal cates can sign. But if not he may sign this summer. Would like him to join the phantoms run.

Andy Greene was jobbing the Flyers in the playoffs last year. It doesn't fill the gap for Lee, but they will have some moments for Isles.

Both UFA's. Devils get a first round pick for two rentals.

- PLindbergh31

The going rate used to be a 1st round pick for each rental.

I didn't see a second of the game last night. (son's HS team had a Flyers cup playoff game). Reading the comments, it looks like classic Flyers 2021 - played well enough to win and a couple of stupid errors cost them the game. Experts at stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think they need to sign at least one of Elliott or Lyon to have a goalie to expose in the Expansion draft.

IF SELLING:

I would listen on Laughton but it would need to be for a 1st rounder or I am resigning him.

Raffl can be moved for depth. I am not sure Bruan gets moved as your exposing him in the expansion draft.

I wonder if you listen on Hagg(if healthy) if you feel like Morin can be a good 5-6 defensman moving forward. Hagg could provide depth to a playoff team.

I am not sure what you can do with Gostisbehere as he has term left on his deal.

i know it's against a lot of peoples idea but I think you need to talk to Giroux and see if there is a deal out there. He has one more year but if you retain 50% and team gets a good player for playoff run this year and cup run next. Also when his deal is up your going to need to resign Couturier.

Thos would be some things I would look at but that's just my feelings. I know not everyone agrees.

My understanding is Felix sandsttom is expansion draft eligible

Season is so short it makes sense teams don’t want to pay top dollar.

Lou.

Zajac gets a shot and doesn’t have to go far.

Not sure palmieri would fetch a first.

But the isles are on a better position.

Zajac is the part I dont get. Where is he gonna play?

And they replace a huge guy with a small dude who is a pp specialist at this stage of his career?

Well, with this trade, Devils officially clinched the 7th spot, so within division, 6 is the lowest we can fall. I am hoping for a top 8 pick but it looks a long shot.

definitely. flat cap. not much wiggle room financially for most teams. not a whole lot of bubble teams this year. i can the flyers even if they do try to be sellers not getting great offers.

That trade tonight is a bummer. If Palmieri only got a first Im not sure Laughton can get a 1st.

I dont think Laughton was ever bringing a 1st. But to further strengthen your point, Devils held 50% of both Zajac and Palmieri.

Brock Nelson can play the wing. Zajac can also play the wing. They added a goal scorer and a skilled player to the lineup in Palmieri. He doesn't have to directly replace Lee. Center depth is extremely important for a playoff run.

What a season. The divisions are absolute farce. Leafs go from technically not making the playoffs to first overall because there are basically no other good teams for them to play. A career backup is on a 10 game winning streak because of the lack of competition. Starting to think the NHL is trying to hand the cup to them really.

Even if they come out of the North wouldn't they play the champ from the West
( either Colorado / Vegas), I can't see them beating either of those teams.
Anybody but the LEAFS.

I can’t see them beating anyone they play in the semis. Imagine if it’s Tampa or the isles who can play gritty. Destroyed. Right now they are in a division that likes to play the run and gun game but very little hitting and defence. Leafs excel at that.

I even think that Winnipeg might be able to beat them in a 7 game series where the intensity is jacked up. That’s the only team with any chance to do it imo. Pathetic division and the nhl should be embarrassed they are going to hand out awards as normal.
