That wasn't the question. You never take that chance on mediocre players. Baseball got busted doing it trying to control salaries. In the nhl you waive somebody in the hopes that they do get claimed.

I think he's like many other players who seem to have an extra gear and give a top effort when there's a chance to score a goal, but when that is not the case, their effort is lackluster.
