Doesn’t Nashville have like half their lineup out?
I don’t think they’d want Hall at this point |

They SHOULD! Give me a 2022 top 3 protected first and a fancy prospect. For hall at 50% retained. |

We shall see, Carolina is sniffing around too know that Palmieri is gone. Maybe we get lucky and a little bidding war happens. |

Some injuries to some good players out there. Not that I want to see players get hurt, but could help the Sabres |

There's a heavy recency bias afoot. Hall is higher profile, and has been very disappointing on the box stats. Palmeri is in no way the better forward, ever.

in the case of this year, hall's having a cody franson-type year where his analytics are saying that he's been good, but his game has really been lousy...

i didn't say "better player" i said better player for the way islanders play...palmieri is much better at playing a pressure game than hall...by far...there's a consistency within his two-way game that fits trotz and the way he wants his team to play

Does playing the pressure game translate into driving offense or defense?
Palmieri's consistent 2 way game this year has produced lackluster results offensively and defensively. |

Genuinely curious why you say that? I have heard similar from other media types, but not explained.
Edit: L8 ... see it above, thanks. |

I thought you had to drive defense in order to see offense. If you aren’t committed to defense 100% of the time you will never see offense. |

A) the 2021-1st round pick
B) "A"-prospect
C) 2021-2nd and B-prospect |

Agreed that Advanced Analytics isn't the be all end all. They need to be in context and be combined with the eye test to form a better evaluation.
I think that is what you are saying, rather than just discount ting them as numbers and graphs, right? |

I'm not a big fan of RAPM charts to describe a player's overall ability and usefulness. I feel they're as primitive as a hammer. But they do help, and what they show does surprisingly show up on the ice.
Hall's box score stats are poor, primarily his goal scoring. But what he does is use his speed and puck skill to generate chances in the offensive zone. He is definitely creating opportunity, and that's evident almost every game.
This is reflected on his charts. |
