We’re a much better team then we were before. This depth pushes some crap out of our line up and adds more scoring through it. Also two players Lameriello knows well and more importantly knows will fit in. Great trade for us.

After acquiring Zajac (50% of $5.75M) & Palmieri (50% of $4.65M) & adding $5.2M of Annual Cap Hit, #Isles now have $3.1M of Annual Cap Space remaining in their LTIR Pool w/ 23 active players (+1 on IR)

Could still add a little depth if they wanted to. Or go full YOLO and get BUF to retain 50% on Hall and send back Komarov

I actually think it's a fair trade for both sides. Devils probably got other offers for Palmieri that weren't a 1st rounder. They got that from the Isles...but for the additional price of Zajac. While that's a steal for the Isles, if you're the Devils, what's Zajac really worth to you anyway for the rest of this season? Might as well get that first rounder instead of, say, a 2nd and 3rd for Palmieri and maybe a 3rd for Zajac.

If anyone should be mad, it's not Isles and Devils fans...it's probably other GMs looking to sell. If you're Buffalo trying to trade Hall for a 1st rounder, the first thing another GM is probably going to say is, "Cool, so, who else are you giving us for that?"

No doubt. One nice thing about trading with NJ is Palm and Zajac are probably being driven via car service to the island as we speak. Can’t wait to see what lines Trotz comes up with!!
