Sigh
It is a shame that this is how Raffl's time in Philadelphia ends. He has always been a 100% in the game player who plays a 200 foot game. From all accounts he was a great team mate as well.

Boy that Chuck Fletcher....he is really an Earth Shaker.

And what exactly did you expect him to do? Trade jvr and jake for 1st rounders?
He got rid of two anchors and resigned the only guy who seems to wanna play. The team can’t do anything significant until the summer, hopefully pay Seattle to unload someone else. They need a defenceman and there was no one available right now

KEEP. Raffle thats what you do ! You package a prospect with guys like jvr or voracek to move them. Far too many players on this team year after year that are almost stealing a check and you go and trade off one who earns one. Smh

Before this year I would agree, but he has not been good this year. He just hasn’t and they got young guys that can do the same. Raffl used to forecheck and kill penalties well. Has he done that this yr?

Fletcher did the right thing.

Also it takes two to tango. Guys w term and high salaries are not all that attractive right now when teams have not made money in over a year and a flat cap.

Fletcher will earn his stripes this summer. If not he goes. There is a prob with the mix of coaches (penalty killing) or nucleus. Either way that is not going to get hammered out now.

I love the Laughton resigning for 5 years at 3 mill per average, he is a good versatile player at a good price I just wish that they had moved him now for a 3rd or 4th rd pick and then resign him after the expansion draft so they could protect one more player.

It was clearly not his best year. But still the main reason for this trade is his versatility and defence play.Caps is not a team in need for secondary scoring

The entire team hasn't been good. It's not because Raffl is an anchor.

This year there are few players who I find myself saying "Damnit _____" Raffle is one of the ones you rarely find making a bad play, Lindblom being the other - although both have down numbers, both are smart, solid, sound players. I am sorry to see him go, and thank him for taking the pay cut to stay here in Philly a few years back - A true team player who hopefully was agreeing to being traded - We have alot of 3-4 liners coming, can only hope one is as versatile as he has been. Not sure who "found" him, which scout and GM but he's been a great non maintenance player in various situations.
