If they played a full length season, it's possible the Rangers could have five 70+ pt players this season. That's absurd. These guys currently make up 10% of the top 50 point producers:

TROUBA FOR CAPTAIN!
- jimbo83

At this point I am over the captain...kind of hope they don't have one lol

When the season started it was "Zib for Captain"

Kreider had his hot streak "Kreider for captain"

Trouba has a good week of games and a between periods pep talk "Trouba for captain"

I am over it all

I definitely don't think Zib should be captain
I think Kreider has enough pressure on him as it is

Absolutely.

He wont feel pressure to put up points or doing anything special w/ the "C". Giving it to Zib, Kreider, or Panarin might mess w/ their games

I think Panarin is out of consideration for the C with the language barrier, talking to the press especially

Trouba is the man

Trouba played well towards end of season last year...Was partnered w/ a rookie this year, and he/they have started to play well. He is just what we need back there! I betcha every guy in the locker room loves his play and has no problem w/ anything we as fans may try to nitpick.

It just makes me laugh though

About 3 weeks ago majority of people hated Trouba and were trying to figure out the quickest he could be bought out. Now after a good 2 weeks its lets make him captain. The Ranger fan base can be a bit over the top at times

MDW is a Trouba hater and has been working on his house more than playing with us, so that's died down

I believe part of the reason that Trouba is playing so well is the ascension of Millers play. K'Andre is playing GREAT! He has started to assert himself physically lately and he is meshing well with Trouba. He absolutely rag-dolled one of the Devils last night and made it look so easy!

Yes majority of fans hated Trouba, but it was mostly due to their unrealistic expectations and his salary. I don't think for a second that his teammates view his play in the past as bad. He has been a bit disappointing at times, but he didn't exactly join a defensively sound team last year, and this year he was partnered w/ a rookie and has gotten progressively better. Some guys are slow starters. Honestly, is this team does what we think it does, then his play will be judged by how he finishes regular seasons and does in playoffs.

I wouldn't say that anyone was hating on him. It was more about the idea that we seem to have 6 young studs coming up and there might be issues with his $8M/yr.

the economics of it in a few years are what they are regardless of how anyone feels about Trouba

in 2024 or so some decisions will need to be made

but right now and definitely still next year at least, they have no one like Trouba

he'll continue to lead the team in hits, blocked shots and be right at the top of icetime every game.

We're so bad, and so inexperienced I'm not even sure who we'll be able to expose to the expansion draft. We're legit going to have to sign some vets just to be able to lose them to Seattle. I can honestly say this is about as low as I've seen NJ sink, and I survived the green and red days.

Yeah, we were supposed to be coming back up together!!
Thought to myself last night that as fun as that was to watch (from our perspective), we have to remember that most teams will not allow such a free hand.
