The Sens should be in the playoffs before the Flames or Montreal. Not sure how this is not the case.

because our goalies were rocking about a .700 sv% the first 15 games of the season.
ottawa was essentially eliminated when they started the season 2-13......been pretty close to a .500 team since then.
not good enough to be a playoff team this year, but far from the worst team in the league. |

Even if you are among the worst teams, the Sens have a lot of good young players, lots of picks and a ton of cap space. The next few years should be fun. |

Treliving’s 7 year plan
5 Head Coaches
12 Goalies
14 useless ufa signings
2 years away from being 2 year away from playoffs.

You'd think with over 600 players in the league we'd at least get a hint of what the cancer is in the lockerroom.

It's becoming pretty clear that Bennett was not properly developed or utilized throughout his time in Calgary. No wonder he was frustrated and wanted out. Can't be a high end pick with a lot of talent who's constantly saddled with lining up with plugs and expect to perform at a high level. That eats away at confidence and then we see the results we've been seeing for the past 6 years. Now, with some talented linemates and so faith by coaching staff, Sam is getting more ice time, more looks, more touches, and he's producing. Best of luck, Sam. You will be missed.

Yeah, the cancer wasn't Bennett. I have no doubt our core is hollow on the inside and that's why, even when they make the playoffs, they can't really compete. |

This same thing is true about JG's RW during his time in Calgary.
At least we salvaged 2 descent assets for Sam and hopefully we can say the same thing about JG this summer. |

I hope the best for Sam, but seeing the overreaction to his first 3 games is hilarious. The talk from Versteeg last week on the fan is that you can be in Q's good graces and then fall to the 4th line in no time flat. The space of one shift - and you can get stuck there. Q rides guys who are playing well, so if Same can keep the pace, and that's a BIG if, he'll probably do well.
It's also VERY fair to say that Sam owns his level of play while here. He moped, he played well at times, he had top 6 and top 9 roles and just wasn't consistent in his play or his production. That type of behaviour under Q will land him on the 4th line real quick. He came right and said that he "gets up" for playoff games and games that matter, so it's a pretty surefire indicator that he controls his level of effort.

The Flames screwed his development. But he also failed to claim a spot. And only showing up for maybe 15 games a year does not cut it.
It sucks it did not work out and watching him thrive hurts.
BUT,
Flames could be dodging a bullet. He could get a lot more money next year and not be anything as good as 18-year-old Sam Bennett ever was.
Time will tell. Until then let's just be happy that change is coming.

Don’t think it’s an over reaction at all. I think it’s hilarious that the man in charge has had 7 years in to build this team. I’m not going to suggest who should stay or who should go, I’ll leave that for others, but if Treliving doesn’t know who the fuking problem in the dressing room is, then he’s not doing his job.
It doesn’t matter who, no team wins with drama going down and that’s the first thing that needs fixing.
