would you rather have the sabres:

a.) lose all five to the bruins and pretty much assure a top-3/4 pick?

b.) win all five against the bruins and drop to the 5/6 range?

B. F the Bruins. Not to mention, getting that 2nd to be of the better variety would also be nice. With the similar ceilings of the top guys, having two pretty good 2nds would be nice in this draft.

Good question.
How about, the play very competitively with the kids contributing but still manage to lose the majority.

I don't believe winning is necessary for the team to take meaningful steps forward, and disagree that any momentum this season will carry over. Teaching, learning, executing well, but still falling short when the team is down their 1C, 1G, 2G, 3G, 2LhD does provide experiences they can leverage into next season.

Winning now doesn't automatically transfer to next season...but it sure will cost them draft positions. I'd rather be in a position to draft whom I want, rather than be left with the 5th choice of 5.

As a very short answer yes, A.
Longer versions qualifies those losses as a result of the roster not at 100% in very key positions, but the kids taking significant steps forward in their development.
Yup.
