You may be correct. I watched Casino first back in the day. Didn’t see Goodfellas til a few years later.

James Woods character was well played.

- Da_Cashman

Casino may not have the iconic moments that Goodfellas has but it is every bit as good. Sharon Stone is ridiculous in it.

well if olofsson goes to arbitration they're going to look at his goals and give him a fat ruling i'd imagine

his next contract is going to be a burden

- robz228

He still has another year on his contract.. why are we talking about him in arb??? They have a full year to figure out what to do with him.

I wouldn’t either, but he will
Get it. Probably not here, but somewhere.

What team needs a starting goalie that badly to pay an oft injured guy that much that also has the cap space to do so?

My point on numerous rants exactly. We can’t afford him now thanks to the Skinner deal. If we can by some miracle move Skinner, then I’m all ears on how much money Rhino wants.
Dahlin will need 7.5
Mitts will need 3.5
Joker will need 3-4
Ullmark will need 6-7 (maybe)
Cozens will need to get paid before the Rhino deal expires more than likely
Let’s not forget Capn Jack’s contract
This does not even include acquiring what weneed to be successful.
If we sign Rhino to a 7, 7.5 we’re saying we’re happy with the team as is

- lulags

IMHO your contract valuations are too high.
Ullmark shouldn't garner anywhere near that money, nor Joker, nor Mitts
-Ullmark at $4.75 for 3
-Mitts at $1.75 for 3
-Joker at $2.5 for 2

Of course, maybe my estimates are too low, but I do think they are closer.

Skinner's contract is a killer though, I agree there. They need to find a way to optimize his production and even then he's likely still overpaid.

If you think he outplays a $3M cap hit by the end of next season, then why not really try to make it a value contract and see if he'll sign a 7 or 8 year deal?
- kingcong39

Because I think that his agent also thinks he will.

Not sure why it became uncivil in the first place.

Dahlin isn't going anywhere. Some bridge deals might be pretty popular this year with the flat cap. Do a 3x4yr with Joker. 5 x 2 yr with Dahlin. Think that might interest him and the team.

- TheSabresTaco

I'm good moving forward 👍

Hypothetically couldn't a team make an offer on dahlin as soon as he hits rfa status?

Although aho is a very good player in the 8.5 million range, feels like the habs cut Carolina's ability to keep him thru his prime.

Defenseman seem like an even more likely target, especially dahlin and his #1 overall status form 2018.

Should I be worried? I know rfa theft is rare

Probably but they need a goalie and have the cap space to pay Ullmark that juicy 7 million for 30 games

Imagine if he could play a full 60... they'd need to spend 14 MILLION

I would bet on a bridge for 4.5/5 for Dahlin. He may have had his struggles, but he's shown flashes of pure dominance in the offensive end. His agent can also point to just about everyone improving on the roster without Ralph for leverage. I would like to go long term to get him locked in instead of hamstringing ourselves again like Reinhart, but is what it is. IMO bridges give a little more $ value to the player as the teams still control rights, and basically get 3 more years of evaluation. Players usually get a little compensation for that. Maybe I'm wrong tho.

This day in Sabres history 10 years ago. Last playoff game.

Gerbe and Carcillo both got Game misconducts. Don't remember why and I can't find it on YouTube. Only thing that came up was Carcillo patting gerbe on the head in a different game

Did find this though

The scenario with Aho was a farce. MTL did Carolina a massive favor. They'd have paid him more if they had to. Offer sheeting top players successfully, especially in this cap era, is virtually impossible. No team will over pay a guy enough to where the original team won't match. It just won't happen.

The best OS contracts are for the 3-4m range guys who everyone might think you're over paying, like let's say someone does that for Mitts, and everyone is like what the (frank) are you doing, but then all the sudden he becomes a 65 point player and everyone's like holy poop what a deal. This happened with Ryan Kesler, except the bid was probably one or two hundred thousand dollars short.

If his agent also believes that he will outplay a $3M cap hit by next season, then why would he agree to sign for 4 years at $3M per?

Just speculative work by Vogl. He protects Borgen and leaves out Asplund, Miller and Risto. Suggests using Risto and Asplund to trade for a goalie if we can't sign Ullmark.

Personally I'd rather sign Ullmark and use Risto and maybe Asplund to grab a sure fire top 6F.

Eh.

They need to add a top 6 LD. Preferably a top 4.

They can’t have one side of the ice be Samuelsson and Bryson if Dahlin were to miss any significant time

- sbroads24

If McCabe makes a solid recovery in terms of quality, but is slightly delayed into say Nov. Vs start of the season;
I'd be willing to let Samualsson play those games early in the season..then return him to AHL duties when McCabe is ready.
It isn't ideal on any stretch, but doable.
That way we don't waste valuable assets acquiring a replacement.
Of course, finding a suitable replacement in FA is a longer term solution and means moving away from McCabe entirely...IMO.

- TheSabresTaco

They're one in the same for me. Girgs, Miller take either. If an asset is needed to protect the kids do it.

My ideal Expansion Draft moves

1. Sign Ullmark, protect him.
2. Bribe Seattle to take Miller for a lower mid round pick. A 4 or a 5.
3. Trade Risto for a middle 6F, or a team's maybe 3rd or 4th best prospect.. someone that's been developing for a couple years. Depending on the prospect, add a pick on either side.
4. Sign McCabe pre free agency and Hamilton on FA day. No, Samuelsson is not ready yet.
5. $$$$$

You ready to pony up 9M per on a long term deal. That's what it'll take.
