Buffalo Sabres – Rick Martin
Rick Martin of the Buffalo Sabres is a tough guy to judge. On one hand, his 674 points in the 1970’s rank second among wings. Martin’s 375 goals in the decade are fourth among all forwards. But it would be negligent to not point out who his center was (Perreault). Still, even if Martin was but a passenger of an elite center, he was a very productive one.

He’s the lone player on this list to not be in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Martin did, however, make four consecutive All-Star teams during the prime of his career from 1973 to 1977. He placed in the top five in goals five times during the decade. Martin put up a career-high 52 goals in consecutive seasons from 1973 to 1975. He finished in the top 10 in points both seasons as well, placing sixth in 1973-74 and 10th in 1974-75.

I'm not in favor of trading up at all, especially for a running back, but Beane has this team in a place where if he makes that move, it won't ruin them.

And when he lies and says the things they want to hear only to then bury him with ice time and less than ideal linemates?

They asked Ralph for his approach with Skinner, and he bullpoopted his way to making it sound like all sunshine and rainbows only to then do the total opposite.

- kingcong39

Considering Skinner was coming off an excellent season prior and it wasn't really a sticking point the first time around, I'd say if Rod was questioned, there would be a whole segment of the interview dedicated to the handling of Skinner. Primarily that we will not have $9M sitting in the bottom 6 or on the bench.

In my line of work, I learn the most from the people who do poor work, and what to look for moving forward to ensure their poor work is rectified prior to coming to me. I would think the same thing happens in that interview.

Could he totally BS his way through the interview? I guess. Not sure how it would serve him well, but I guess.

Thanks for the insight Rat, shoulda asked you directly when I made the post.

The improvement made under Gallant at first in FL seem kind of similar to what is happening in Buffalo now. I think you guys have found your coach.

Probably just Ralph's fault.

0% on skimmer right?

- Boss34

Skinner, just like just about every other player on this roster, is playing better now that the snake-oil salesman is no longer with the team.

I hope so, too. What comes next is injecting some higher talent into the team and surrounding Donnie with some solid, modern coaches.

You must have missed the part about "excellence". Ristolainen is the only answer.

Runners up. But are you going to stand there and tell me that they come close to matching the pure excellence of the One True Rasmus?

Sure, but is skimmer playing like a 9 million $ player now that Ralph is gone? Nope.

Better, but one of the few players playing under their ability still.

Terry and kim need to get luckier with skimmer

this is a perfect example of someone panning the bills pick of allen and even going as far as saying that he'd have traded up to no. 2 to select josh rosen, before covering his ass, "i figured at no. 7 it was kind of a no-brainer (to pick rosen)"

but the bills thought otherwise

"we will see if that's going to be a move that comes back to haunt them...it's way too early to say it's a bad move and I won't say that."

jfc...you just did...in so many words

Lowest paid hc in the league. Peaty and Rivs touched on that. He will need a big raise.

Also, he might not get along with skinner. Which is something to consider. Do you have to move skinner for Rod the bod?

I don’t think he leaves though.

I'll respond to you one time. I'm not talking down to anyone. I think a player is bad, and that's my right. This has nothing to do with you or Pachla. My opinions are allowed on this site. So are yours.

Cut the crap, Boss. Your righteousness is phony and offputting, and frankly, it's insulting. Be (frank)ing better. And while you're at it, try heeding your own words and stop firing personal insults at people when they insult your favorite players. It's exceptionally immature.
