It's one thing to screw up the #7 pick. It's another to screw up what might be a #1.

There's more than one person w a platform talking about Power and his lack of backward mobility.

You're probably right. I haven't done the research and would more than likely go with a forward. That said, 2021 is a more difficult draft year than any in recent memory because of Covid-19 and (or because of Covid) the lack of a consensus No. 1 overall or even a top-3-5 pecking order.

It was a great read. Thanks for sharing. I've read about a dozen or so mocks and draft articles, and Beniers sounds like the pick to me.
- Powerslave

If not him, I think you go with Eklund of Guenther. I think Guenther's got the ability and may need to be coached a bit to reach his ceiling. As long as he has the drive.

Kinda reminds me of Erik Johnson. The draft stock and the projected ability. Maybe EJ had more defensive ability while Power has more offensive. But if you're taking a guy #1 OA, you need to know he's a #1 D, right?

I'm no scout, but yes I would think you'd want to make sure.

Still, many have Power right up there, so there must be something to like.

Let him go. If he wants to yell into the void, let him. I said my peace, and no one else seems to take an issue with me. C'est la vie.

Have faith! I guess. I don't know how you hire competent scouts midseason. I don't know if any of the work they do for other teams is proprietary if they leave their teams prior to the draft. Then again I think their contracts run out 7/1, usually. This draft is going to be run by Kevyn, Karmo, Crowe and Nights.

Any concerns about setting the 3rd tank/rebuild back a few years by drafting another defenseman?

Even the best prospects take years to develop.
Dahlin is finally showing some elite talent, but still is probably a few years away from being a top playoff type guy?

Huge.

The Sabres' defensive prospects are obviously a strength at this point, and since there's no consensus #1, I'm going forward if it's up to me. And the guy that sounds like he wants to win at all costs is first on my board. We need more of those, imo.

Yes, but he is still having his issues playing LD, rather have him grow and get that down before I switch him.

Exactly, we need another top forward prospect, especially with our budding superstars cozens and mitts

Dahlin has 11 points in his last 13.

Played just over 27 minutes the other night and the eye test matched the analytics.

He is a stud, just a victim of Ralph.

The Sabres are prepared to only have 6K and Tokin' for the rest of the season, which is 7 games and ends on May 8th.

I haven't paid super close attention to the possession and shooting metrics, but I see that most of the time, Dahlin and Joker are dominating their opposition. Points completely aside.

And probably his inability to use his size to his advantage. I'm not sure you can really coach that into a player. I can't think of a guy who was drafted like a Myers and then turned into a Gudas, or something.

Ok he's a stud, still has issues playing defense, why flip him to the right side.
