Because the situations in Tampa and Colorado are exaclty the same.

I didn't realize that group think has infiltrated the buzz too.

Ill go back to falling in line.

PICK Owen "Tyler Myers" Power

- ImThatGuy

I'm all for trading a first round pick if it puts you over the top. This team isn't ready for that type of trade, imo.

Wild Bill alone isn't going to get you into the playoffs. I think they're more than a few moves away from being a playoff team.

And I really hope they don't pick Power. The more I read and hear about him, the less enthusiastic I get.

Nobody on their team makes more than 7.8.... except their GOALIE. They pay 9 guys between 4 and 7.8 million... They also can do that cause they don't have state tax.....

Steven Kucherov disagrees.

Roman Josi, John Carlson, Alex Pietrangelo. The rest of them are on average to bad teams.
- TheSabresTaco

And there's like 10 of them total. It's not a large enough sample size imo to determine whether an 8+ defender is worth it. As hockey is a very team oriented game, they have to really move the needle. Some of them making that do, some don't.

The Bolts are like 5 Mil over the cap for next year.

Every player is available for the right price.

- ImThatGuy

We (including me) say this every year and it never happens.

Stamkos and Kuch both do. Point got 6.5, probably with a nudge nudge help us out and we'll pay you in the future contract. What you just said is so verifiably incorrect it's not even funny.

28 can't go anywhere, he's the toughness this team needs to keep other teams from taking liberties. Of course he might trip over his own feet before he get's there, but he will be the deterrent.
- Buff36

Doesn't Matter " how tough" a guy is.

Teammates respect teammates that get punched in the face hard enough to break a hand.
That's really what teams are looking for, punching bags.

The Bruins watched tall timber tage step up, and they haven't cheap shotted a sabre in 13 hours.
Sure the game ended at around 930......

Another soft post fluff36

It’s pretty much exactly true

Trust me they are playing better. By a lot

They are by no means “driving play” in most games

- sbroads24

Black and white, you're correct. But, and this should come at little surprise, they are greatly improved in the play driving aspect of their game. They demolished the Caps recently. Beat the Penguins.

The team is young and missing some top pieces, under a new coach and a new style. I would never expect them to be some dominant force. But they've shown it recently and inconsistently.

Both on LTIR both Forwards... still haven't given me a successful team paying a dman over 8. It doesnt happen. Good luck to Vegas but they aint it....

How does that prove your point.. You said no one makes over 7.8 beside Vas.. Two players do. Two players that haven't played the majority of the year, yet Tampa is still squarely in the playoffs.

Yeah, they’ve outplayed a few teams for sure, but as a whole during the dozen + games they are still on the wrong side of most stats.

A game like last night was sort of on its way to us eventually. Asplund and Mitts weren’t shooting 32% and 22% respectively for the rest of the year

I don't disagree with your logic, getting better players. But you can't just say Kuch could be had easily for our first. I doubt it. He's one of the best players in the league, they'll pay their late first to get themselves out of the trouble like they have 4 years running instead of giving one of best players. That's what good teams do.
- SDSabre

Okposo and a 7th for MAF.

Tampa's highest paid skater this year is Hedman. Their second highest paid skater in the playoffs last year was also Hedman as Stamkos was out for nearly all of it. You want to call it an outlier, fine. Saying it doesn't happen is flat out wrong.

And your point? They LTIR guys, and are still successful with their highest paid skater being Hedman. But not successful team has their highest paid skater as a defenseman. But in your mind somehow those two sentences equal profit?

The team has struggled to drive play the entire season and that hasn’t changed under Granato

I find the Reinhart narratives odd

He’s matched up against top pairs and guys like Bergeron, Backstrom, Crosby etc and is at a plus XGF% at a position he’s not used to playing, with two linemates who either are poor top 6 players (Olofsson) , and another guy who was on the 4th line all year.

The Sabres are paying Okposo and Eakin 8.1 mil to do absolutely nothing. I’d be more than happy to just pay Reinhart 7 of that

- sbroads24

Well I will give Granato a chance to get driving the play more sufficient because he is basically playing with a half a team that wasn't even playing before he took over.

I too would rather have 50+ xGF from that line than giant shooting percentages. That line is young, inexperienced and just very recently experienced some success. I look forward to what they can provide for the next 90 games.
