you're supposed to say that +/- is a bullsh!t stat and doesn't apply to any real analytical conversation...

however, the object of the game is to score more goals than the opposition...and the sabres haven't been doing that...with certain players on the ice the opposition has scored more than the sabres...

pretty simple

- Michael Pachla

We're always losing and thus playing with our goalie pulled. I remember during the great ROR flamewars I counted like 17-20 minuses in one year from empty net goals

Well that's obviously changing. So if they're keeping him, he needs about 5 minutes less/game.
- Powerslave

I'm fine with risto playing less and dahlin more.

Gotta beat the best to be the best

6 years 6.25 million and the "C"
22/23 minutes a night.
You need more than 1 good defenseman to win hockey games still? I think? I've learned differently around here.

It’s not that simple because I still have no idea what you’re arguing

You went from arguing about Reinhart making blind passes to posting players goal totals to talking about +/-

It’s all over the place

I’m so confused why we’re comparing Reinhart and Ristolainen

One is actually really good, excelling at a different position and is on pace for a career high in goals if it were a full year

The other one has been demoted, is playing against teams bottom lines and still getting murdered with shots and goals because he can’t think the game

- sbroads24

One guy is playing more, because the franchise center is out.

One guy is playing less, because the franchise defenseman commands more ice time

Meh, people get their dander up after a loss, usually, and Risto is the fall guy. Sure he hashis moments, but they scored zero goals yesterday and had zero shot on goal on a 6-on-3 for over a minute...

Guess who's fault it is?

On pace for 29 points in 82 games this year. So doesn’t even do that well anymore

And he can’t defend

So what does he actually do again?

- sbroads24

He still rents a large space in your mind apparently

How long has your Crusade against him been going on for now.... 6years? 7years?

Ffs dude
We all get it- u hate Risto

It's easy to say why: he's been on the team longer then everyone else and he's still the same player he was 8 years ago

Some people like what he's always been and some don't. For those who don't like him, seeing the same stuff after all these years has gotten tiring. Those who like hitting and "off the boards and out" like him.

He can play 45 minutes a night, 82 games a year without ever getting tired or hurt but the underlying numbers are bad, and have been. If you don't trust the numbers, then he's fine

i was hesitant to book a cruise because i dont know how they are handling pushback priority, and i don't want to get stranded at sea because someone on the ship gets a cough

the deals were unbelievable though

Can you explain this...I'm thinking of booking one but don't know the concern here.

It's the way this is supposed to work...analytics are overrated because they don't tell the whole story..and not only that, while the amateur hockey scouts here and across social media continue to tout analytics as the Rosetta Stone of scouting, no one can here can tell me who compiles those stats, what criteria is used and how the final results are tabulated

That's my problem, I'm not trusting the numbers. The people compiling and processing them are human. I'll give you a simple task, compile the primary assist numbers for each Sabres player since Ralph left, which is a month

So now it’s arguing against analytics and not arguing for Ristolainen?

Or are you saying he’s good because analytics are bad?

Again, nothing is clear here

Humans award players shots/assists/hits/+/-

So I’ll trust in the future you won’t use these because they can’t be trusted

People are "into" different shat.

Crags doesnt like guys that make noise ramming the boards. I do, it's better than doing absolutely nothing.

Great28 and viking55 are ALLTIME SABRES.

Risto is top 7 or 8 in many defenseman (offensive) career categories.

Great28 is going to be a 1000 game silver sword sabre.

- Boss34

My bet, you are right, but he's under 100 goals, but over 10,000 falls. Get that kid a (frank)ing medal

A lot. Because the numbers are instantaneous to their site for the most part.

And it’s a lot more involved in terms of it being compiled electronically
