Having a bad day, lol?

Heis defensive play renders him as a 3rd pairing. Plain and simple.
THAT is what counts the most when playing Defense.
He is horrible at the transition game and is not defensively sound in front of the net.
He needs a stud Dman ahead of him so he can play against lesser competition and be deployed in favorable conditions (sheltered) to limit the ill-effects of his faults...low hockey IQ, bad at the D.

His 46% of all his points on the PP is good and he is perfect for the front of the net...he is unmovable there. Dahlin takes his spot up top on the PP..which likely reduces his points going forward.
He plays tough, so that is good as well.

Now the economics.
He is expensive for a 3rd pairing guy who gets PP time.
At $2m, a decent pay for 3rd pairing guys, he can can fit in financially.

As far as 4 guys better than him...he plays on the right, so forget the 3 on the left.
He isn't a 1st pairing for sure...that ship left the dock a long time ago.
I like Joker at 2RhD better, especially at a much, much lower cost.

Don't take it so hard Boss. It's reality.

This is what this sounds like to me. An opinion:

I would love sam if he were a 3c for 2 million.
Deployed in the right situations agaisnt other slow players. He is a forward and should score goals and points. Plenty of his points are on the pp.

Not realistic uncle ion. More trolling in anything.

My point - the post stated the Sabres did not have the LUXURY of pushing an expensive Risto down a pair or two. YET, they did that with two other players who cost more.

If Risto is serviceable at a 2/3 pairing, move him down. Stop playing him top tier and work on sending him out the door. I, do not mind him.

And, maybe, just maybe, all these awesome trade offers that everyone knows about (I have no knowledge of the inside of the front office) also came/come with a caveat that the Sabres could not stomach.

Basically, I do not know.

That is true for pretty much every forward that gets primary PP time

However less than half of his points are on the PP (12 points, 7 of which are goals)

So 7 out of his 17 goals are on the PP

So on his current 32 goal pace, 13 of which would be on the PP

Pretty much the same percentage of his goals as Auston Matthews has on the PP (10 of his 33 are on the PP)

Risto 532 gp 46 goals 195 assists 241 points
Sam 444 gp 126 goals 159 assists 285 points

Really, sam a forward has only 80 more goals and 44 more points in 80 less games

I'm not going to give you the opportunity to start a long angry nobody win arguement.

Sam is not a 7 million $ player you build around.

This is two seasons worth of goals for a 40 goal scorer

It would take Risto 11 years to get to 80 goals

Rasmus Ristolainen is bad at hockey.

Not sure how anyone can say differently in year 8

Sam Reinhart is good at hockey

What a strawman....

Where did anyone say build around Sam Reinhart? So why even make such an absurd statement

Also who is signing for 7m that you build around? Another nonsense statement.

Players that you build around are getting 10+

Anyone else think we got the best player in the draft with Cozens? At first I didn't ike the pick and wanted Zegras but its starting to look like Cozens could be the best player in the draft.

Did he get drafted in thec1st round of your fantasy draft or something?

Right, risto is terrible, maybe we can trick another gm into giving us a top 6 forward. Before the word gets out.

Risto a defenseman, has more career points than a guy connected to jack eichel turnout his whole career.

Next year. If they keep him. And probably many years afterwards. Top 90 forward and all.
