Anyone else think we got the best player in the draft with Cozens? At first I didn't ike the pick and wanted Zegras but its starting to look like Cozens could be the best player in the draft.
- sabresfan69

It might be between him, Caufield and Dach at this point. When I saw his highlights in juniors I was worried that he might not be a playmaker but clearly he is. That one rush he had up the left wing last night was breathtaking. At all three levels they knew what he was going to do and they couldn't stop him.

But Risto is worth $5.4m? For a 3rd Pairing Dman?

Did he get drafted in thec1st round of your fantasy draft or something?

Next year. If they keep him. And probably many years afterwards. Top 90 forward and all.

I had this weird thought last night - if for some reason I could only have Mitts or Rhino on my team I would choose Mitts because he can drive play. Then I felt bad for thinking that. 23 is a very good player and he could be on my team any day. I just wouldn't pay him a cent over 6 mill. He is the ultimate complimentary player and somehow that is a backhanded compliment.

Right, risto is terrible, maybe we can trick another gm into giving us a top 6 forward. Before the word gets out.

Risto a defenseman, has more career points than a guy connected to jack eichel turnout his whole career.

- Boss34

You just posted the opposite, but w/e.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about anymore. More points than who?

Dahlin has more points than Ristolainen. But you think Dahlin stinks.

Sam is set up perfectly for a payday.
Go to Arb for a 1 year contract...walk right info UFA stats the next year.

Ok, so I've been negative on sam.

The above post was to point out to ion how foolish his post was. I'd love to sign McDavid to 3rd line for $2,000,000 a year.

Is that better?

This is what this sounds like to me. An opinion:

I would love sam if he were a 3c for 2 million.
Deployed in the right situations agaisnt other slow players. He is a forward and should score goals and points. Plenty of his points are on the pp.

Not realistic uncle ion. More trolling in anything.

- Boss34

Who wouldn't? You're not getting a 20+G 55P player for $2M.

The last 2 years Sam has scored 30% of his points on the PP. Ovechkin over the last 2 years has scored 32% of his points on the PP. And that was just the first comparison I thought of. You have an irrational hate for Reinhart.

No, really lame post.
Once again you fail to understand the context...
I'll try to be very pointed

Risto, as a Dman, absolutely blows in his own end at everything related to actually playing Defense.
He has proven it for 8 freakin years that he isn't a top 4 Dman...he's a poor 2nd pairing at max...and I am being very generous.
The data is there if you open your eyes to it.
His offensive accumen saves him, a bit, so he deserves 3rd pairing minutes in a very sheltered 5v5 role.
From the above, he isn't worth $5.4m...IMO. Which is a decent 2nd pairing.
Hence why my conclusion that the Sabres can't afford the luxury to play him at 3RhD.
T14 made my point in spades...maybe they could carry his sorry ass if they didn't absolutely F-up by paying Okposo and Skinner $15m.
But that us the reality.

I'm glad you like to watch hard hitting...maybe you should get the ECHL package.

Now you try to justify that absurd $2m for McDavid, it ought to be great reading.

Agreed.
Solid RWs are harder to find, and Jack is not easy to play with...a few have figured it put..Pommer for example...but many haven't.
There are few RW's of note in FA this season.
His contract situation is going to be interesting.

His play looks like he will be a very good even great player

He does need to start showing up on the score sheet a little more though before we claim him the best player in his draft. I do think that will come though. Kid is a work horse and has very good skills with that work horse mentality

He can't keep his arguments straight anymore

He likes Risto, so be it, he "punches people in the face" yet has 3 total fights in his NHL career.

Risto hits people because the Sabres never have the puck when he is on the ice.

Risto is however good in the offensive zone, I will give him that. I will add that 109 of his 241 points have come on the PP (45 %)

He likes Girgensons because he "tries hard" aka skating out of control where he falls.

He doesn't like Reinhart because he is "soft"(yet takes a beating in front of the net where he scores a lot of his goals). Doesn't think he can produce without Eichel (is producing more without him this season that he did with him) and he isn't a top line producer yet Homie posted the stats that prove otherwise. But Sam doesn't sign autographs I guess. Also Sam's career percentage of points on the PP is 30% (88 out of his 285 is on the PP)

Boss will be Boss he likes who he likes for whatever reason.
