am leading towards a scenario where jack echl might be more inclined to favor an experienced head coach over donnie meatballs...he's just watched two head coaches with no/little experience behind the bench decimate this team...

i like what granato has done and i like what he could do with the talented youngins at his disposal...but when the bullets fly, what does he fall back on when things arent' going well?...the juxtaposition between his style and ralphs?

- Michael Pachla

Alternatively he could get an established head coach that plays a system that he hates. It really could go either way.

Opinion here, everyone has one. šŸ˜€

Borgen really made risto expendable last night .....

I'm all for protecting the future, but the lack of value people assign for viking55 is ridiculous.

Cant let him walk for free, thus trade it protect him.

Or extend him......

I donā€™t get it.

I'm tired,ā€ Merzlikins told the media. ā€œI'm tired of losing a game. I know we are trying, but this is getting embarrassing. It is what it is, I'm going to be honest with you. It's painful. I mean, sitting in that locker room, and trust me we are trying. We seriously are trying. We didnā€™t give up.

ā€œItā€™s bothering me. I canā€™t sleep, like seriously. What have we lost now? Seven straight games? This is really sad. You canā€™t imagine that, because you are not part of our family and you donā€™t live this, together with us in the locker room. So you canā€™t really understand that, but it hurts. For me personally, it hurts.ā€

"I don't want to get to Buffalo, I don't want to get to that point like Buffalo, seriously,"

Imagine if this guy got traded here. He'd jump off the Peace Bridge.

This needs to be posted all over the Pegula's offices.

They need to embrace their identity - they have puck movers on the backend and skilled forwards. With two solid goalies, Eichel and someone who can actually play defense like McCabe, they will look really good if they keep playing high-tempo hockey.

You absolutely do not go back to lockdown style coaching. These are the wrong players for that. Move forward not back

everyone was like Mantha has 4 goals in his first 4 games!!!
Mantha is on a better team and hes playing down in the lineup and thus facing lesser skilled competition.
Vrana is now playing on the top line in DET on a team that sucks.
Yzerman is smart and a lot smarter then his internet armchair GMs.

I'm convinced Stevie Y has dirt on McLellan of some sort that would completely ruin him. I see no other reason to make that trade. A 1 for 1 would've been fitting.

Yikes.

getting bjork and signing caggiula to add to their burgeoning core might be indications that they're doing exactly that...and no, we won't be seeing stank-hockey anytime soon

It looks like they're going for players that go 100mph every shift . Beniers sounds like the perfect match for that

was told there's a huge difference between tending net in the two leagues--the ahl is more scattershot as opposed to the nhl where the play is a bit more controlled

this is true.. some goalies who play strong positional but aren't as good reactionary are probably better off in the NHL v the AHL based upon player positioning and shot quality.. that being said i am not as high on UPL as others... i hope he proves me wrong

I still remember Biron's first game. They brought him up from juniors as an 18 year old to play against the Penguins. If memory serves me he gave up 3 goals right away and was pulled but came back later in the game and played alright. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put a kid in against that team.

he's still young for a goalie...like b-19 said, equal chance between getting lit up and pitching a 40-save shutout...seems to happen a lot in goalies first taste of the nhl
