Not sure. I wasn't trying to start poop with Boss regarding Harris vs. Etienne. I was genuinely curious because I've heard a lot more about Etienne than Harris.
- jcragcrumple

I didn’t think u were at all
Seems like it’s a toss up depending on if u value Harris’ banger ability inside or Etienne’s explosive potential more
It’s pretty close imo

With Vegas being exempt from the expansion draft, would they do a Reilly Smith for Ristolainen deal?

Both are owed $5M or so next season and both are UFA's after next season.

It also feels like Josh almost never even looks at his running backs in the passing game, let alone throw to them.

I think that's the next step in his career progression: Getting the ball out of his hand faster and taking the little 5 to 7 yard passing gains to his running backs and keep the drives going.

terry loves him
kim loves him
adams loves him

botts loved him

murray loved him

half this board said he was a goner over 2 years ago

yet still here he is, and will probably be protected on the expansion draft

Wayyyyyyyy late I know.
But by now, whatever the Brainless Trust (TM) thinks they should do, they need to come to grips that it probably isn't the right move.

Risto's biggest ability is his availability. He can play a million minutes without getting hurt or tired. He's also good on the PP. I think for the most part, the board recognizes he's not actually good at defense - or at least I don't see anyone actively defending his defensive prowess. He's a minute-eating, PP guy who hits and who's not good at defense or even strength offensive generation. The Sabres need to figure out what to do with that

Trade. It.

Because it’s not worth the next contract.

It’s not worth opening Borge. Or Bryson to expansion.

For the love of all things hockey. Trade. It.

Yeah I think so too. Pretty sure Samuel will be there because of his size. Or Farley if he falls because of injury. Wouldn't be mad at either of those. I do like Etienne's speed though. Imagine him in the screen game in a 5-wide set
- jcragcrumple

Absolutely, homerun hitter. 1 cut and gone.

Flip side:
Mcbeane picked both guy's recently.
Both have fought some injuries.
Veteran backs are a dime a dozen, and also seems to be the way we roll.
Hard to see a 3 headed rb attack of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year guys?
We also throw the ball more than more by design.

I'm pretty pumped for the draft

singletary

over 1900 yards in his first 2 seasons in a split backfield with about 5 and a half yards per touch

not bad for only being in the nfl for 2 years from a small school

- homiedclown

Love the guy, overall very good running back.

He really doesnt specialize in any category though.

Power
Speed
Hands
Nose for tds

Not really a knock, just an observation.
He's shifty I guess.

I would go the passive route. I think if he were exposed to expansion, he wouldn't be selected. I think the Kraken with JB as AGM would select Asplund/Tage/Bjork, and I think if the Sabres threw in the Staal 5th, they'll take Girgensons over any of those 3. But exposing Risto is a risk I'd be willing to take, in any case

Going this direction, you could trade him either at the draft this year, TDL next year, or if things go right, you make the playoffs and reassess then

This is very accurate. I also like the longevity as a sabre. *Yes, they have lost since he was drafted, and he is a big part of the losing. #loyalty

The tough but not a fighter thing is a small unexplained thing. Entertainment value.

Lately, I think he's really going out of his way to show the young guys his game. Hits and fearlessness.
Unfortunately it turn's into bad defensive positioning and mistakes.

am leading towards a scenario where jack echl might be more inclined to favor an experienced head coach over donnie meatballs...he's just watched two head coaches with no/little experience behind the bench decimate this team...

i like what granato has done and i like what he could do with the talented youngins at his disposal...but when the bullets fly, what does he fall back on when things arent' going well?...the juxtaposition between his style and ralphs?

- Michael Pachla

???
He is fighting for an NHL HC position that he has worked his entire life for.
Pressure.
Ya, he has enormous pressure on him and found a way for the players to galvinize into a team continuing to fight hard in a crazy season. He has two very important t pieces to the puzzle growing in Mitts and Tage, while finding out about Bryson and Borgen at the NHL level. He is uncovering Sam's C abilities when it makes sense to do so...and has Cozens playing at a 2C level.

They aren't winning because the following aren't playing...1C, 1G, 2LhD, 2G, 3G. Yet his team is engaged and playing well considering the afore mentioned.

He has done more than Disco Dan, Lousley and Fvckin' Freddie combined...with a staff that has virtually no NHL coaching experience.

Your point about seeing how/if he makes in game adjustments is fantastic...but it is a growth opportunity. At the same time, the guy has a great and long background.
Pressure, not so much...IMO of course.

Does this team ever (frank)ing score first? I don't think they ever do.

Is there a stat which tells who has the most goals in the league in the first 5 minutes of play?

Trade for THAT guy.
