open market, probably 3.5 to 4
- homiedclown

That feels like a million too much for a middle/bottom six winger.

If you keep the kid lines intact, which line are playing him on for $4M per? The top line? Reinhart's line if he's centering the 2nd line?

I think I'd go $3M max for him for 2 seasons as that's when the kid forwards start needing new deals.

Move out of the top pick in the draft plus add a good middle six forward for cheap, to just get rid of 6 mil in cap?

No way in hell

- sbroads24

They really need to get rid of Okposo or Skinner to keep Reinhart. This accomplishes that

Then we get a haul for him, and most likely cap space, and we're still in good shape going forward.
- Powerslave

Yes, for sure.

The return for eichel: should be young guys that could learn and grow as a team under donnie g.

This team concept is really a great concept from a franchise and fanbase used to losing to win....

Do you really want to cut back on mitts , Sam's or cozens ice time? Sure its eichel ( most likely for a portion of a season) .

Love eichel the talent, winning without him makes him (more) expendable.

I'm sick of losing, trade all my longtime favorites....
Just f'in win.

that 6 mil in cap hit may go on ltir as well (hey kyle we really like you if you go on ltir we will groom you in the front office/scout/coaching whatever you want)

and he is off the books in 2 years

if eichel stays and they want to keep reinhart, trade olofsson and risto

If Okposo had 4 years left on his deal instead of 2, it might be at least worthy of a conversation.

This likely depends on the playoff success they have, but it's why I suggested a Reilly Smith from Vegas for Ristolainen deal.

Vegas is exempt from the expansion draft, their cap hits are almost identical, and you take a one year crack at a veteran like Smith to see if you can get his mojo back and have a big season to help propel the team to the playoffs.

If the team is bad again, offload him at the trade deadline.

- kingcong39

This is a very good stategy. Wonder how many other teams look to Vegas for trade idea's?

Their exempt status is a huge plus for stashing talent.

If they've had that conversation, then obviously it's a different story. I don't think Okposo has any intention to leave though

Yeah at an insanely unrealistic price tag.

That’s bonkers to move from 1 to 5 in the first place for Okposo.

I get there’s no “consensus #1” but there will more than likely be a clearer picture as we get closer

I agree with the trade Olofsson idea from this standpoint: If the team is all in on the 2 kid lines, that means Olofsson is on either the Eichel or Reinhart line, if each is centering their own line. That could work, but if Reinhart is placed back on Eichel's line as the RW, that leaves either the 4th line or Eichel's line for Olofsson, and it sure seems like Skinner will be back with Eichel next season.

he.s a .5 ppg player the last 3 years and physical playing limited minutes

if your buffalo and offering that 3 mil per year, it's a hang up

I'm sure the player they trade sam for will be

I honestly think it will be for matthew tkachuk +

With Sam playing center Calgary will want him more now .

But like kingcong said that 9m Qualifying offer is gonna be hard to swallow

We already did this exercise sir.

There's cap room there even with Okposo, Girgensons, Ristolainen, and Miller still on the roster AND your insane idea to pay for goaltending.

a quick look has ari, lak, and ott as possibilities

- Michael Pachla

Good teams to consider...each for different purposes.
Kong looked at it quickly yesterday and found 12 teams who could/should protect him...now, do they also want him, have assets we like that they would trade, and also have the Cap Space?

Fun stuff here to consider and debate....hmmm if only we knew a blogger who could start the convoy with a well thought out blog

Getting Tage signed to that 3 year deal looks really good right now.

Will be interesting to see how they tackle Reinhart, Dahlin, Mitts this offseason.

- Pegullaville

I think they go the tall Tage deal, at a higher cap hit.

Their ages and distance to UFA status are the same when comparing Tage last year to Tage this year.

3 years at $1.8M per for example gets Casey to 2 years before UFA on his next deal.

I’d go long term on Dahlin.

He’s going to explode next year

- Pegullaville

It's nice to think about an 8 year deal for Dahlin, but with how the stars are structuring their deals now, I believe the only way he's open to that is if the AAV is a gross overpay.

Think $10M per.

Then no dice on Coleman.

If you believe in the kids, then you cannot overpay somebody like Coleman as you'll have issues when the kids need new deals.
