Oh It's all good. I was just being tongue-in-cheek. The Panthers 100% deserved to win that game, and in regulation no less, but hockey is weird sometimes.

I believe canes on top which is fine cause for obvious reasons id rather play any team but carolina 1st round even though that means tampa for us

I might tune in for 10 minutes while I workout tonight - but.. Sam Bennett.. that's a player with no honor, he refused to play hard during his time in Calgary, screwing over the franchise's rebuild & the fans.. you'll like him until he gets disgruntled again - I'm going to guess when Coach Q throws him in the dog house or when he tries to get a massive contract and either leaves or puts the Panthers in a tight spot, cap crunch.. when he starts coasting and doing half a. forechecking you'll know he's done with you

Bennett has been better than expected so far. The Panthers have had their share of guys loafing, whining and not hustling over the years and we’re hoping Sam does’t start, but I feel your pain. Sam is playing on a line with Duclair and Huberdeau & providing toughness, checking and hustle. He seems happy at this time and revitalized. Also, we’re close to the playoffs where Sam supposedly excels.

He asked for a trade a year ago, and Calgary said no, then he said he was okay with staying in Calgary and they traded him almost immediately afterward.....

Lookout for his Connor McDavid impression - where he takes the puck into the zone, like he's going to go straight through the two defenders, who proceed to easily take the puck away from Sam, against the boards by the faceoff hashmark..

I had a feeling he'd play good for his new team, granted like you said, he's playing with two top wingers. It's too bad he plays with an edge when he wants, I don't buy the sales pitch that he's a "playoff guy". Gaudreau actually looks suspect to me, and i'm asking if he tries to coach the team by only playing good with Monahan - it's possible Sam got pushed to the side by them, still no excuse to not giver 110%

Youre right ive never believed in asking for a trade and/or not signing with your drafting team. Being this skilled is the golden ticket. Suck it up and play your heart out. Being paid mega bucks to play a game that most of us have to pay to play is better than likely 98% of other jobs.

Flames are wrapping up, I'll tune in soon to FLA - looks like bennett likes to bring it early on in games.

I'm not angry that he's doing good, I swear his strategy was to get the lowest return possible for the Flames in a trade, and then turn on the after burners when he joined his new team.

This whole situation exposes Calgary GM Treliving. He couldn't figure out Sam - they kept saying he "needed more time". He failed to prioritize Bennett, obviously he needed quality wingers to play with, but in Calgary, Sam was thrown all over the line up, Backlund got 2C by default when they moved Lindholm to Monahan/Gaudreau's line - and it's crazy to think about now, a 4th overall pick, treated like a scrub the whole time. I think a Flames fan posted that he only got 19+ minutes in only 4 games for his entire time in Calgary.

It still doesn't make sense, that he didn't raise heck on the 3rd line, and force the coach's hand. The relationship went sour and he was never going to give us the same effort he's showing in FLA, this is addition by subtraction for the Flames. Seeing Sam do well with good wingers gives Calgary a lot of introspection. Treliving gambled away our 1st round draft picks on players like Hamonic, made failed signings like Neal - but he really failed to take a gamble on Bennett by putting Backlund above Bennett on the depth chart. Once Lindholm was acquired, Treliving failed to make a decision on Bennett, who should have been traded after a strong playoff performance, because Backlund's as good of a 3rd line C you'll find - likewise for Bennett, he should have spoke up and demanded a trade much sooner, he saw himself as a top 2 C because the question really was back then: "is Backlund your #3C or Bennett?", but even during the days of the Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik line, he should have realized then and there he wouldn't receive the same treatment Monahan got, who was essentially given #1C. This all comes down to Treliving's inability to properly assess Calgary's needs, nor can he properly assess talent.

I had a Panther's ball cap as a kid when they went on a run to the finals, this whole situation with Sam has peaked my interest in the team again, it's kind of hilarious to see Bennett act like such a clown, but at the same time, he burned Calgary..
