Jordie Benn in again tonight. Uncle Paul must have him confused with the Jets old mascot Benny. Perhaps believing he will bring good luck or something.

Cannot believe this guy is already getting in over Stanley and Heinola. Actually I can, Maurice is like a bouncer at the bar where only guys over a certain age can get in.

Good article Anthony . Some interesting stats in there on Scheif vs McDavid. Maurice would likely have more success putting his 4th line up against McDavid . Tonight should be interesting.

My philosophy would be to have every Jet player on the ice constantly in McDavid's face to get him off his game. Same with Mike Smith. Run him all night long. It's times like this I really wish we had Buff.

There is NO justification for Benn playing over Stanley. Ridiculous

Shocker Vasalainen looks good , big and physical enough it seems.

I believe n the first intermission I heard "Jet's only down by one ... it's a good period" about five times. I personally believe a good 1st period is when the Jets are up by two.

...just saying!

Edmonton has two goals on the power play which currently has them up 2-1.... Jets have had no chances in the pp even after clear penalties which is the reason I think we got away without a call on 97.... but the refs need to call the game they see. Tonight’s the night where pomo needs to bring out the fire to put some emotion into this team.

Haven't the Jets pretty much struggled 5 on 5 against every team other then the Sens?

For a team that's supposed to have so much offensive depth it sure doesn't show up when they really need it, this forward depth is overrated imo.

They're really going to miss Ehlers, he's their best forward.

Montreal is in a tailspin, hopefully the Jets can capitalize on that and fill the net, feels like some of the Jets haven't scored in quite awhile.

I am disappointed that our League wide 11th best penalty kill was unable to stop the Oilers.

I am also really concerned that Hellebyuck has played 40 games already. Especially in the condensed season. Seems like Maurice from the Carolina days has not changed much; I remember when he played Irbe 77 games in a 82 game season once.

So my take on these last four games is that we are done.

It really doesn’t matter what happens over the remainder of the season. We have not beaten Edmonton in 6 games. Toronto owned us the last few games as well.

Early exit. Jets will be done in 5 games first round.

And then the summer of
Chevy
takeasummeroff
begins again.

And in this age of covid, if nothing is done this summer, people may come back next year to the rink because of the novelty again but will soon leave realizing that takeasummeroff did nothing to improve this team.

Sorry for bleak outlook.

I’m a season ticket holder and optimist but I am done with this team as constructed. We have a complete lack of sand and grit needed to compete.
Can we beat anybody on a Tuesday night during the season sure, any team can.
For us to win we need to score 3+ goals and have a Vezina performance, not sustainable.

What we see now is a team that is flat, probably sick of being pushed around and not pushing back.
I think they look flat and may have tuned out their coach, next game or two very important.

Sucks because there is a lot of talent on the roster

Just an incredibly weak team physically

P.S. anybody impressed with Benn and his incredible hard hitting play??? Didn’t think so

We might not be facing the Oilers in the 1st round.....I am afraid that it could be the Leafs. Friday against Montreal is looking like a critical game.

Yes this is deflating. The answers to the Jets D issues may be solved internally if PoMo can just give the kids a shot. Stanley took something like 18 games to be on the ice for a goal against, and Benn has yet to play a single game without a minus. Stanley also brings so much more to the table besides a strong defensive presence.

I don't understand why Heinola can't get a fair shake looking at this roster. DeMelo, Benn, even Forbort these past 15 or so games have played like fringe NHL'ers at best. If I were PoMo, I would close out the season with this just to see how it worked:

Morrissey Heinola
Stanley Pionk
Forbort DeMelo

They have looked lackluster of late for sure. I am not writing them off tho. A healthy Ehlers can do a ton of damage on the ice, and one hard hitting/violent affair will draw all these players back to the light. They just need that spark to get things going.

I've always given Maurice the benefit of the doubt. I understand that Chevy is also responsible for providing the coaching the staff the right tools for the lineup. After the embarrassing first loss to the Oilers, I just don't understand Maurice going with the same line-up, especially when we have better players just wasting in the press box and on the Moose.

Our defense is in shambles like last season. We no longer can depend on them even attempting a cycle and we spend entire shifts in our own zone just working for a flip dump to center ice. I don't care if we had more shots, we are no longer dangerous.

The Jets 2 weeks ago were 2 points out of first when they swung and missed at the trade deadline. Stanley is better than Benn on the left side and we know Benn is better on his off side playing the right so we should be trying him in the place of Demelo or Poolman. Chevy said since summer we need a puck moving defenseman so why is Heinola not playing? Earlier this year, he made the all star team for the world juniors along with names like Bowen Byram and Trevor Zegras. We have now lost 5 in a row. Give him a shot since we're not winning with Forbert on the ice. He was a -4 the first game against the Oilers. Stanley is perfect on the 3rd pairing and gives us some sandpaper.

With better players just sitting out games, perhaps Chevy needs to rethink his loyalty to Maurice. We are a draft and develop team but we refuse to develop players past the AHL. Maybe Pascal Vincent who is an amazing coach might be better suited to take this team to the next level.

Looking at Florida and wow does coaching make a difference or what. The team went from having one scoring line to three. Wonder what good stuff coach Q would have done with the Jets.

Forbort is what he was signed as, a 6/7th d-man. However Maurice has him playing on the 2nd pairing and never calls him out for his horrible play. He sits out Stanley his 3rd best d-man to fit in another 6/7 d-man in Benn. DeMelo has been a big disappointment all season but Maurice continues to put him in the lineup. We won't see Heinola, Stanley or Samberg in the lineup as he will never play these better d-men because he would rather play his old and poorer, good in the room d-men over the Jets young draft and develop kids. Its time to move on from Maurice as th Jets coach.

I’d love to see three games in a row of,
Heinola-Demelo
Morrisey-Pionk
Stanley-Niku

Why not?

I would like to see Benn on the right side of Stanley. I like your idea of Heinola with Demelo. Niku has played at times with Stanley on the Moose and provides a lot of offense but I would worry our penalty kill might suffer since Niku gets manhandled in his own zone.

Any combination is better than playing Forbort, Benn and DeMelo.

Give me Niku over Benn, Forbort and perhaps Poolman too. If we can’t have Ville, or Stanley I’d definitely be pleased to see Niku over those 3.
