Thank you for the blog Todd!

So besides the obvious, mathematically eliminated, when does the franchise admit its a lost cause and inject some of the young guys into the lineup?

Hi Todd,

Thoughts on Bennett's immediate success in Florida? His comments were that it was good to have people believe in him. What does this say about Calgary's asset management?

Calgary Flames NHL 38 4 8 12 19 -14
Florida Panthers NHL 7 4 6 10 19 10

That's crazy. Can't be sustainable though.

Well, if he does keep it up, to a moderate degree at least, this could be the slap in face the Flames need to wake up to support their players so they can reach their potential. Man, just listening to the media on the fan 960 was brutal yesterday the guy was like yea good for benny but what happens when he hits some adversity? Its like they all had him pigeon holed as nothing better than a good checking line forward and so the Flames failed him. I hope Benny goes on to score 100 points next year.

Same story different player with the Flames either trading or giving up on. Brett Hull, Martin St. Louis..... the list can go on

I get your point, but there's no way that Bennett is going to become Brett Hull or Martin St. Louis now. I'd bet a $1M against that.

I know he’s not going to get to that status, overall the Flames got a better return on the trade then I expected.

Man, we got a bunch of negative Nancy's in this thread.

Let's see how much Bennett's next contract is for, and how he produces next year before we get out the pitchforks. People have to remember he is also playing for a new contract.....which might cause some extra motivation for a guy that had a hard time finding it.

Janko did great the first couple of games for the Pens. Is he still in the league?

If he had not said that Janko would be the best player in his draft class maybe he could be forgiven. But he will live forever in infamy.

I look at a lot of decisions that people who are bad with money make (myself included). And those same decisions make the situation worse. Trying to hit a home run with Janko is similar.

That's why i hate moving down. History shows that the higher up players are better. I think every player picked between 14 and where they got Janko is better.

Why do I never get the choice to watch the Flames broadcast when they play the Oilers?

Next there is going to be a 3rd gender ??? with a manbun breaking down the game.

The best part of it is when they say what the player should've done.

Watch any game you want on your computer at nhl66.ir (Make sure you type it exactly like that - not www.nhl66.ir)
It's not illegal. Trudeau won't show up at your door. Not yet anyway.

I’m not Canadian anyway, so if Trudeau shows up at my door I’d be extremely surprised.

One way to slow down McDavid is to have an old slow Mr Bean looking dork to take his feet out after he's been exposed as being a crap defenceman and almost end the career of HockeyJesus. I think you tried it a couple years ago.

Give it a break a$$hole who cares & old news whether that was a legal check or not. Keep crashing nets at light speed will eventually result in serious injuries to either player or goalie. Now shouldnt you be on some Red Wing thread figuring out your rebuild.

OT winner last night. Assist today (still in 1st period) So far 5G, 7A in 9 games.
32 shots, 26 hits, 65.22 CF% at 5-on-5.
Quenneville: "I can't say enough good things about how well he's started with us."
Starting to look like a bit more than beginner's luck, etc.
