as far as Quinn goes, I think he's earned a chance to have a normal season, of the three seasons behind the bench, only one has been normal

they hired him for 5 years, if you aren't going to give him year #4 with a normal training camp, exhbition games, a normal schedule, why did they hire him in the first place then?

- jimbro83

Gotta give the Islanders a ton of credit. You let them take a lead it’s extremely difficult to come back from any deficit. Not going to lie I knew the game was over after the 1st goal. They take away any time and space better than any team in the league. They literally suffocate you in the defensive zone and are so sound on there board play. Could easily see them winning the cup this year regardless of how you feel about this season.

Rangers have a lot to address this off-season. Time to upgrade that Center position, and they need some players that are literally going to battle in the end boards and grind you down. To much finesse and not enough sandpaper. Gotta create some balance.

Nope coaching is fine according to most on here !!!
- way out west

This from the guy who wants the coach to change the PP on the fly because they have pressure in the offensive zone too long.

Everyone wants to celebrate all the young talent and then get mad because the kids don't know how to win against men yet.

This place is becoming intolerable.

It is absurd that Valarmov shut us out 4 times. We werent shutout once all last year and now we are at 6!

We only have 4 guys that throw the body and 3 of them are out, we looked like the ice capades out there. There was no push back when Touba got hurt, and in the first few minutes of this game Zib takes an elbow to the face, intentional or not, by the same guy who took out Trouba... by the way.... and no reaction. Everyone just frowns and goes back to the bench. Ridiculous

So, you wanted who, our top teenager or Buch to get their head kicked in by one of the toughest guys in the league?? That would've been good for morale.

This is all true.
I think they will add some grit somehow, going forward.
But this is what we had. And we knew this. That's what so frustrating here. All the talk for this season was for development and growth and bringing the kids along. Any talk of the playoffs was that it would be great, but not likely. Now that they put themselves in a position to have a chance everyone is female doging about how they fell short instead of realizing it was incredible they were there in the first place.
Backassward thinking.

historically speaking, from a NY Rangers history perspective, Quinn would be dismissed after this season is over unquestionably

and NY Rangers history is just so damn amazing, it's always worked, going through coaches like water

Agree with this, trying to get in with 4 veteran teams with plenty of playoff experiences while being one of the youngest teams in the leagues was a stretch. For them to be alive for 5 games left says something about the development.

Jimmy don’t be logical, this fan base can’t handle it, we will be better than the Isles soon, we need to continue forward, plenty of positives to take when this team was fully healthy, since March 13th we’ve been a top 5 team all around, wins, goal differential, PP, PK

The rangers can also thank the devils and sabres for being able to stay alive with 5 games left

It’s really hard to judge where this team is in development only playing 7 teams

No this is from a guy who watches pp1 not get a shot on goal on two pp but leaves them out for basically the full two minutes. It’s not to hard to play keep away when you have the extra forward but can’t find a shot on goal

I think for the most part the rangers have drafted well. It time for them to figure out who they want out of the drafts and move assets to get what they haven’t been able to draft. I look forward to the summer.

Really solid point in the fact they have played a total of 7 teams. Tough to say but we really don’t think we will know what we have here until after next season. Full training camp, full amount of exhibition games, travel to west coast, longer season. This is still a rebuild so we gotta remain patient. I want us to upgrade at center and part ways with Strome. Think he’s been a very good Ranger and his #’s don’t lie just don't think he’s a good fit for this team moving forward. I’d move Mika down to 2C. Just my 2 cents.

I pretty much agree 100% with all this

And it may very well be that Quinn isn’t the right guy.

He just has done enough to earn getting another chance in a normal NHL season IMO.

That’s all.

I don’t know how you evaluate anybody properly over this insane season.

Buffalo absolutely HAD TO fire their coach. That was an emergency.

This is not.

This years draft has to be a total crap shot. Most CHL teams played limited amount of games within a small bubble and the OHL didn’t even play. Were scouts allowed into collage game ? Same as Europe and their leagues. Sort of feel bad for the young hockey player trying to be seen. Crazy world right now

Yep I totally agree. I want to upgrade at the 2C position

I just don’t think this team can just roll it back and say we will be fine with a full training camp. I am fine with Quinn staying but need to upgrade the roster. Islanders, pens and Bruins games really showed changes are needed around the new core of the team. They didn’t look competitive in a lot of those games

This is fair.
It's not that I think Quinn can do no wrong. Just think a lot of the hate is misplaced or overblown.
I also think that the fact we only played 7 teams doesn't really hamper knowing where we stand. Each division has many similarities to ours. Top teams and deficient ones. I think we would find similar results to what happened this season against both types of teams regardless of where they play.
It was way too obvious against the Isles that we don't have a roster that can get to the front of the net against physical, structured teams. Maybe that changes as the kids grow, but it was certainly the difference in these games.

Fair points, just have a lot of soul searching to do this summer. I hope Quinn can figure out ways to adjust his game plan vs these top of the standings teams. I understand they are young and will struggle but not looking competitive at times worries me some.

I just really want an upgrade at center. Not saying Strome has to go but they need someone tougher to play against like Jimbo says. Strome and Chytill have skill but man get pushed around easily and really struggle at the dot.
