That's what the lines look like to you, doesn't mean they are right. . How do you know next year the plan isn't to play zip and Panarin together and they have a plan to trade Strome in the offseason? - Rangers99

I know he’s had a not so great year, but I wonder if Cirelli would be available. They still have to be cap (frank)ed going into the next few years - Slimtj100
yeah, Tampa will need to do something
they'll cheat again though somehow

My summer prediction is we acquire one of Hertl or Couture. Don’t know for what but thats my prediction. - Awolff9
It would have to be Hertl, I feel Couture is starting to hit the wrong side of the age line. |

Brooks thinks there is a bit of a rift between the high profile forwards and Quinn
that they don't listen to him about stop the East-West crap
https://nypost.com/2021/0...r&utm_campaign=SocialFlow - jimbro83
There are definitely reasons to fire him. I doubt it happens, but never know. You can’t deny how well they played when Knobluach was behind the bench. That’s what spring-boarded the playoff run we’ll fall just short of |

I think also not scoring a goal in 2 games could be why as well |

This team lost pretty much all of its physical players against an Isles team that grinds and beats guys up. Coached by one of the better coaches this league has. That first loss really hurt them mentally (knowing theyre pretty much done for the playoffs) and you could see it in the second game since they didnt have anything to play for. Theres a certain level of pride and pissed off that seems to be missing. |

Totally agree, need to address that in the off season |

I predict Calgary trades Matthew Tkachuk to Ottawa
that's my big summer trade prediction - jimbro83
That would be fun but I would have to think Tkachuk is the #1 untouchable in Calgary. Who knows though they definitely need to do something. |

Rangers had 13 million in dead cap space and another 3.7 million in limbo land because of DeAngelo
gonna be nice to actually spend that money on guys that are playing

Because, if were talking about development, wouldnt you want to play your kids on the lines that you would hope to expect to see next year? Wouldnt you want to keep playing the kids consistently with the same people for chemistry purposes?
They called up Barron, and arent even using him.
Theyre finally playing someone other than Blackwell on the "second" line only to move Panarin up to Zibs line.
Is there an argument/debate about Quinn's decisions that you wont find the need to get all bent out of shape about? - aecliptic
What does the bolded even mean?
They called him up and he was in the next game and played 12 minutes!!
But, because he wasn't at center, playing 18 minutes they way you have outlined that your decades of experience playing and coaching in the league say that he should be played, they "aren't even using him."
I was not bent out of shape. I asked what he's doing wrong by trying new combinations now that the playoffs are off the table.

Barron's first NHL game he got 11 minutes, seems reasonable, I'd like to see him take some faceoffs

I think part of that is maturity though. This is an incredibly emotional team, especially the younger guys which is half the roster. When they're playing well it's all smiles and hugs which is great but when things turn south they get down on themselves and don't play with the level of pride that you're referring to. I think they need to actually just grow up and be adults, which will happen. I do think that at a certain point they have to stop using the youth as a crutch but I believe it's a valid excuse for this season where something like 7 or 8 guys played their first NHL game for us this year.
They need to learn how to win when they are not at the top of their game, bottom line. We all have different solutions for that, whether it's infuse some experience into the lineup to speed things up or we stick with what we have and have a little more patience. I can see both sides but I'm in the latter group. |

The thing is, even if this is a controversy, which I don't believe it is, I side with Quinn here. Now of course you can make the argument that he needs to be able to fix the problem, but them playing too fancy at times is certainly a problem. He's right about that. |

I agree. He always has an agenda that is usually in his best interest or what he believes is right. Too bad they aren't just ignoring him at this point. Need Dan Boyle to come back and handle media relations. |

If it is that much of a problem (the players not listening/being defiant whatever) then (frank)ing bench them. Send a message that it won't be tolerated. As far as I can tell he has no issue benching anyone. The only player that has not been benched this year (that I have noticed) is Panarin. |

I hear ya. It gets somewhat more complicated when it's half the team with the no-shoot mentality. You can't bench 2+ lines!!

True.
I saw in Quinn's presser after last game he touched on something that has been batted around on here:
Something to the effect of, if these guys need a coach to get them pumped up for a game against the Islanders, we have major problems.
That leads me to believe that those of us saying the players need to shoulder blame for the sleepy starts may have merit to our argument. |

You know my issues with Quinn. I’m not as steadfast as most are. I just don’t like how for eons in sports when a team is flat, the coach gets blamed for that. Now the Rangers coach is somehow teflon to this type of criticism? at least adjust after the first period. Do something. Those last two games were the worst all season, Quinn is not immune to fault in those two games. Which ultimately cost them a playoff spot |
